Made this a while back as something really fun and unique for my beloved husband's coat/hoodie. It's got the uber-tight patchwork trim, and the breast turtle/peace sign applique... The applique on the back is a design I came up with combining the Stealie with a favorite anime character of ours. It's also got 2 stashes, 2 inside breast pockets, 2 inside side-seam pockets, and the two front ones. We were just watching the lunar eclipse tonight and he had his hands in his front pockets, and I was cold so I was able to snuggle up behind him and use the side ones. Anywho, here it is... click for tons of detail. I will take my rambling ass to bed now!
Wow that looks so professional. I love the patchwork on the right side. Very creative integration of the two characters, too. Just awesome.
I get it and I LOVE it!!!! I love nearly everything by Hayao Miyazaki anyway, although I only own spirited away and princess mononoke. It's just too bad I can't sew...or sew well, at least. I've been wanting to mix anime and dead stuff for years, but alas, I have no talent. :::sadness:::
Right on... thanks, ladies! I had soooo much fun designing that applique, even though it took me forever. (It might not look like much, but I consider the umbrella the greatest part of it, because of the detail and shading). We have all but a few of the Studio Ghibli releases, we're addicted! Someday I want to design a tattoo collage of Miyazaki's characters. It's mostly just a matter of finding an artist who can do it and I can afford, and a part of my body I like enough to show off a tattoo on!
I wish I owned more, I've been trying desperately to get my hands on Grave of the Fireflies, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind....even though GotF wasn't directed by Miyazaki, I've heard and read that it's one of studio ghibli's most powerful films. I can't even watch it online anywhere. The tattoo idea would be so freaking awesome, when you said that my first thought was of Moro....maybe with Eboshi's arm in her mouth. Lol, that movie made me feel so dirty for being human. Anyway, once again I'll say 'tis the loveliest thing I've seen in a long time. Congrats on being an awesomely crafty lady.
Wow....that's beautifully awesome! You did a great job, it looks so professionally done...it must have taken you quite a while and a lot of patience. I wish my sewing skills were better then they are, I would love to attempt something like this for my boyfriend's birthday coming up. Great Job...
