Bump this up, i got a reply from my representative and he told me that he supports the idea of shifting priorities to "educating" the public instead of putting people in jail.

I got a reply from the message I sent. Here it is...

WARNING - This may piss you off

    "Dear ____,

Thank you for contacting me about the Act to Remove Penalty for Personal Use of Marijuana (H.R. 5843) . I appreciate hearing from you.

As you know, H.R. 5843 would eliminate any penalty for possession of marijuana for personal use. I am opposed to the legalization of marijuana, heroin, and other currently illegal drugs. I support stronger enforcement of our drug laws, not less, and, I am concerned that legalization will result in increased abuse of all varieties of drugs including alcohol.

The bulk of our law enforcement community insists that legalization may increase crime and traffic fatalities and will hamper their efforts to prevent the spread of all types of drugs into our communities. I support current interdiction efforts on the part of law enforcement. We must keep drugs off the street while providing treatment alternatives for those who seek help.

I think it is important for all adults, and particularly those who are leaders in our community, to send a clear and consistent message to young people: Drugs can destroy your life. It's not okay to use them . I believe consistent enforcement of our existing laws is the only way to lower drug use in the United States .

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please continue to contact me about issues that are important to you. While I commute from my home in Albuquerque to Washington D.C. , for voting and committee hearings, you can always check my web site for upcoming com munity events to find where you can catch me around town."

    Sincerely,
    Heather Wilson
    Member of Congress

    What an ignorant bitch
    Anyone else have any replies?

Wow your Congresswoman is dumb as fuck >.> Her reply holds no water and speaks obviously only from what she hears second hand.

I just wanted to let everyone know they should support H.R. 5842 also. it's a medical bill supported by the same people supporting H.R. 5843. Do a google search and contact your congressmen and women.

She says that drug usage ruins lives, yet how helpful is it to put someone with a 'ruined' life in jail? That doesn't make sense whatsoever. Being put in jail ruins your life as well...

Might as well toss boiling hot oil on a burn victims face... the same logic is being applied.

Marijuana is the ONLY drug in which the punishment of possession outweighs the punishment of Usage. It kills me to see such blind people in power.

Damn, that is so true, I mean... if I 'ruin' my own life, then who the fuck else is that hurting besides me? I can ruin my life my way or I can let arrogant retards ruin it for me. Exactly what you said man, how are we going to fix someone's 'ruined' life? By putting them in jail? Great solution. Yes and it kills me also to see blind people with so much authority..

Problem is the general populous of America expects the government to do things for them. Censor things, make things illegal, ect. So that's just how it ends up. It's sad but it's how the country is. At least here.

Neither. It's congress, did you really expect it to actually be voted on within 5 months?

although it barely makes a difference if it passes or not. meaning state laws are still in effect.

i guess it's the best that our current system can try to do.
