i find this interesting.. very stoned the other day and conversing with a group of people about how we fly in our dreams.. and so far there are only two ways one can fly in their dreams. there is the way that i fly, which is sort of dogpaddling or swimming through the air, and it really feels like im swimming. but i can only gain speed gradually. i have flown like this in my dreams ever since i can remember, basically all my life a couple of other people have said that when they fly in dreams, its like superman. they fly with their arms fowards and shoot straight up in the air. i am wondering how many variations are out there.. how do you fly?
The only dreams I've had that were close to flying was when I would kinda jump only jump between far away buildings and stuff but then can kinda go down streets sometimes... it's hard to explain- defiantly not shooting up in the air- but kinda gliding at times in a slower way... hmmm.. .it's weird- i cant really explain it..
Its interesting you say that, I remember a couple of my early flying dreams were lucid, and Id choose to fly, but id kind of just hover in the standing position and Id start hitting the powerlines and the trees once i got that high. I told my friend and he said to stick your arms out like superman, and from what I remember I had another lucid dream, where I woke up in my dream, and I tried it but couldnt control it Id go way too far in either direction, like out into space, but then i got the hang of it, and flew over mountains
Almost all of my flying dreams have started out as falling dreams. WhenI am just about to hit the ground, I stick my arms straight out from my sides(like a glider) and swoop up into the air. I always fly like this and never heard of doggy-paddling through the air. I find that image funny.
my falling dreams never get that far; i usually wake up the instant i start to fall... as far as flying, i've never technically flown in a dream that i can remember, but there have been a few where i was able to jump really high, usually due to some sort of moon gravity effect...
ive never been able to shoot straight up in the air no way. it's a gradual thing, step by step going up a little bit at a time and usually only just high enough to not get grabbed by people on the street. im always being chased when flying too. a recurrent dream i used to have was being chased in my own home and then running to the balcony and leaping off it (theres a drop) and then gliding over the pool and into the big tree that has now been knocked down. then id jump down to the street and keep running. ive had that dream so many times im thinking maybe im supposed to jump off my balcony
i usually am just observing it from my own eyes, so basically you can say that i hover/float. sometimes i straight up teleport!
In most of my flying dreams, I either take a run up, and jump into the air and flap my arms like an idiot or I just start to hover like suspended in the air and kinda jump to where I want to go.
I haven't had a fly dream in a while. But even in childhood it wasn't that common. Falling off windows, however. Oh, that was common dream.
by not falling. i usually teleport when i'm not riding something like some kind of a train for the enjoyment of doing so. er, this IS IN dreams we're talking about, right? when i do, its more like floating. i just sort of drift, without gaining or loosing altitude at all. just remaining at the same altitude i started at, like out the window of a house high up on the side of a hill or something. then as the land slopes away below me, that's the only thing that can make me further from it. likewise, looking for someplace it rises up to the same level, wherever i'm at, is the only way i can 'land'. not a real practical way of getting anywhere, though the view is usually pretty good. =^^= .../\...
i used to get flying dreams a lot when i was younger... I always had to get a running start or I would just fall on my face. They felt so real too. But I'd always end up getting stuck somewhere and falling to my death ):
I’ve had a couple of angelic dreams where I’m floating high above the ground but never had the nerve to actually look behind me to see what was holding me up. I guessing wings Hotwater
