hand forged roman soldiers sword, made from high carbon steel with a full tang. the sheath is hard leather with real brass. is that or is that not the shit!:sunglasse
i got a dagger when i was in italy, though 'tis only decorative. its pretty cool though, the handle is the head and wings of a dragon, and the sheath is the body of the dragon, wrapping itself around the blade
late at night on tv there are these home shopping sword shows...and there swords and knives are damn cheep i recomend them. i want a sword...my friend has one and his is fun to play with
it looks cool but if you've ever tried to use that thing in an actual sword fight you'd get your head chopped off. the good sword nowadays could slice through that thing. looks very cool though, and if used correctly is very effective fear-wise
actually if i had the gladius in my first post, as well as greaves, lorica segmatata, a legionarie's helmet and a scutum id be a formidable adversary. now im trying to imagine a fight between a roman soldier and a samurai. the samurai would probably win but if the legionary was quick/strong enough he might not get sliced in half. the two foes meet eyes. the roman sneers at his opponent, draws his gladius and braces himself wiht his sword. the samurai squints and scowls at the roman, gracefully un shieths his katana and charges. closing the distance, he trys to uppercut but the shield stops him from scoring a deadly blow. now its the legionary's turn. he stabs and slices at the japanese warriors face and the small gaps in his armour. the armor is of light fibers and he is quick enough to evade. the samurai wheels around behind the roman and tries to slice into his back. a few metal strips are broken, a few more damaged. the legionary feels a sharp pain in his back as his segmantata is damaged but ignores it because of sheer adrenaline. the roman soldier endeurs. he then succeeds in making a small penatrating wound in the samurai's cheek. the two look into each others eyes. fear and suprise; the roman is used to fighting in line against big slow barbarians who hack at everything that moves not a quick warrior who moves faster than the gladius and the samurai is used to fighting fellow samurai and other quick less armored opponents. not this european in metal armour with tower shield. the two, ignoring their wounds begin to circle each other. the roman struck first, trying to hit the samurai wiht his shield. simotaneously the samurai tried to kill the legionary wiht an over head blow but caught the sheld instead, this time splitting it in two. the samurai prepared to deliver the death blow and the legionary had both hands on his sword, one bracing the other, to go for the juggular as it were. they struck! the japanese warrior died first from a stab through the neck. he died feeling hed failed his lord but still went with his honor. as he fell to the ground he took his sword with him. the roman looked down and saw a profusely bleeding hole in his belly where the lorica segmantata had failed. he knew instantly that death would come very soon but at least he was killed serving his emperor and was vanquished by a worthy opponent.
Gladius vs Gun: The two foes meet eyes. the roman sneers at his opponent, draws his gladius and braces himself with his sword. The untrained redneck gives the roman a bemused look before drawing his .357 magnum revolver. The roman charges the redneck, but before he can move six feet the redneck has lined up his sights and squeezes off a round. The powerful .357 charge sends a hefty slug of lead straight through both the roman's shield and breatplate, through his right lung, and out his back. The gladiator is knocked down from the force of the blow and promptly goes into shock, as he bleeds to death in the dirt the redneck approaches and puts a second round through his skull at close range, the force of the slug actually causes his skull to shatter within his helmet and his life is snuffed instantly as his head is turned into a thick soup.
I wouldn't want a sword. I'd be tempted to use it. Ya know just to see if it is as sharp and strong as they claimed.
