What do you think about the assassination of Lennon. Do you think that it truly was a crazed man or something more. If it is something more who do you think was behind it? (more specific than just the government)

Here are some basic, suspicious facts about the assassination.
    1. Chapman was never found legally insane.
    2. He was fully aware of the situation because when some asked him if he knew what he just did he said, "I just killed john lennon"
    3. After shooting Lennon, Chapman sat down on the curb and read catcher in the rye until the police showed up.
    4. Chapman displayed alot of the charecteristics of a person who might have succesfully been turned by Project MK-ULTRA.
    5. The man who attempted to shoot Reagan was also found with a copy of the catcher in the Rye on him (pointing again towards MK-ULTRA and linking him with Chapman and Lennon)

    Discuss please.

What is the connection between 'catcher' and the MK-ULTRA project? I'm kinda familiar with both but i don't see what the link is.

    just wondering.

Chapman was indeed a brainwashed pawn; not some highly intelligent secret agent, just a crazy little man that the government took advantage of and had him kill John. Watch "The U.S. Versus John Lennon". John Lennon was a threat because he was opeing people's minds.

They would need a certain something to trigger the brainwashed program. So, since both assassins were found with the book, many people speculate that this was the trigger.

And, I know he was threat, but I was just wondering what everyone else thought. Ive talked to alot of people about this, and they tell me Im a damned crazy hippie, so I wanted to know if anyone else was thinking the same.

I think that Bush senior had a big part in the assassination because:
    1. He wanted to be the next president, so killing reagan would let him in easy and killing lennon would make his job easier.
    2. He was the former CIA director so he wouldve had access to Project MK-ULTRA.
    3. It has been discovered that he and Hinkley (reagans would be assassin) had close family ties, thus making hinkley an easy choice.

interesting stuff, bro. I'll have to do some research on it. I have frequently heard "catcher" in refference to MK-ULTRA but i don't know much more than that, except that it was a pretty book. John Lennon was surely a threat to the political status quo of the time.

Here's another thought for you. Why do assasins have three names? (John wilkes booth, Mark david chapman, john hinkley junior, lee harvey oswald.)

Anybody know anything about Martin Luther King's assasin? What about Gandhi's? Did they have three names as well!?

i doubt it. it has less to do with the number of names they have (I have a middle name too). The important thing to realize is that John Lennon was purposely assasinated by a sad little man who was controlled by the government and/or the Nixon administration.

The day John Lennon was assissinated - something definitely stank. The shockwaves from that event nearly sent all of us (who cared) to our knees, emotionally. It made NO sense. NO sense! When was the last time a musician was murdered in the streets? Maybe I'm old, but I can't recall one at this moment. I mean, I think the last time when someone famous died that affected the public that way, was Marilyn. I don't recall any such thing inbetween those two events. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

In the past year I've done a ton of reading on MK-ULTRA. I'm drawn to it specifically because I was a victim of attempted brainwashing, on a much smaller scale. Nonetheless, still devistating to me at the time.

So, my point being that since having been witness to brainwashing techniques and what they entail on a small scale, it's not a huge leap to consider what they might be like on a governmental scale. And, since MK-ULTRA was admitted to by the gov't in the 70s (and Clinton apologized to the victims during his term as pres) I have no problem believing that Lennon's assassin could have been a tool for the boys that hold all the cards. And I also have no problem believing that there were trigger words in ANY given book, song, poem, art whatsoever, that these people might have owned/read.

What I have a hard time believing, is IF the "elite" are so powerful, and IF they have so much FBI/CIA/military at their disposal to carry out their dastardly deeds, and IF the media is on their side and knows but never really lets US know what's going on...is why then did they have to assissinate John? Why not just have him break down so bad he'd end up in a mental hospital? I guess it was cheaper in the long run, to off him. I guess I just don't see how he was so much more a threat than so many other famous "rebel" personalities out there. Especially if those sources out there that claim that Yoko was his "handler" - was she not doing her job good enough? Why isn't she dead too then? I can't remember the site, something "Watch"...but it linked Yoko's bloodline back to one of the royals.

Too many questions, not enough answers.

Yoko's parents and family were a wealthy samurai family up until the war.

My dad told me that the government killed him and then they put that guy (that they already brainwashed into thinking he killed him) there so everybody would think it was just a normal murder.

Because as long as he is alive he can communicate in some way shape or form and the curious thing about words of wisdom is that they are immortal. It's not the man that was the danger it was his message. The mesage had to die.

"Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof." - V, "V for Vendetta".

Its also interesting to note that in John Lennon's song "Remember" that he is referencing Guy Fawkes. source - Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Fawkes
    see "Film and Music".

both people, John and Guy Fawkes, both belived firmly in the power of ideas, and how they cannot die.

They did try to break Lennon down, repeatedly.
They put him under constant surveillance (and let him know it) they tried to deport him a few times, etc..
so, even after all this, they probably figured they only way to break him is to kill, to bad they didn't realize that assassinations instantly and forever instill a man in history. Now I'm saying John would have been forgotten had he died peacefully, but he definately will never be forgotten now.

John Lennon was too strong to be broken down. he knew they were trying to do break him down, and he wouldn't let him. He knew that even if he died, his dream would go on.

ok, so i've been doing a little research on the subject and it seems to me like the evidence is pretty compelling.
Here are just a few things I found out.
    1) There was a subway entrance across the street from the dakota. Why didn't Chapman even try to make a get away?
"As far as you are trying to build up some kind of conspiracy, I would support you in that line. Like I said originally over the phone, if this gentleman [Chapman] wanted to get away with it, he could have got away with it. There was the subway across the road and no one around to stop him." -Arthur O'Connor, the lieutenant who was commanding officer of the twentieth precinct of the New York police that dealt with Lennon's murder". -

    2) Since 1835, 15 men and 2 women have attacked "nationally prominent political leaders in sixteen separate incidents." Of those 17, only 3 have been ruled insane by law. Mark David Chapman was never found to be legally insane. "The 'lone nut' theory simply does not stand up as an all-embracing explanation covering all -- or even most -- instances of American political assassination.

    3) lennon knew he was under heavy surveillance throughout the '70s. He is on record telling friends and reporters as much. In an April 10, 1972 memorandum from J. Edgar Hoover to the FBI's New York office, Hoover orders his agents to "...promptly initiate discrete efforts to locate subject [Lennon] and remain aware of his activities and movements. Handle inquiries only through established sources... Careful attention should be given to reports that subject is heavy narcotics user and any information developed in this regard should be furnished to narcotics authorities and immediately furnished to bureau in form suitable for dissemination."

    4) the man who Chapman was speaking to when he said "I just shot John Lennon" was reportedly a CIA agent who asked him "do you know what you just did?"

and here are a couple of quotes that I found. Quite haunting and rather prophetic if you ask me.

"Listen, if anything happens to Yoko and me, it was not an accident."
    -John Lennon -

"Laurel and Hardy, that's John and Yoko. And we stand a better chance under that guise because all the serious people like Martin Luther King and Kennedy and Gandhi got shot." -John Lennon-
