Hey all you hippies who live across the pond. I am trying to put together the largest MySpace group for people who don't wear shoes. Hippies, surfers, whatever. If you go around with bare feet and if you are on MySpace check it out and sign up... http://groups.myspace.com/barefootlife If your profile is marked private, just let me know that you are a Hip Forums member. I'm anxious to hear some stories and opinions from the UK.
you really don't see many people walking around barefoot over here. I think it's because of all the dogshit on the pavements.
True, true.. and (round here anyway) all the broken glass and vomit. Yeah, I live in chav central... I barefoot when I can, which is not very often at all, sadly
if i had a nice garden i'd go barefoot in that. but well, the balcony is jagged concrete, and outside on the ground around the flat is broken glass, lots of bird poo, dog poo, and rubbish ... none of which i want on my bare feet when i was younger however i used to always walk around barefoot, as long as i wasn't out shopping or something like that. i would drive barefoot at times even. but well, i stopped going around barefoot years ago, because i was with some guy that thought going barefoot meant you were a hick. and well i had really low self esteem at the time and didn't want him to think less of me (sadly i married him, but then later gained my senses and divorced him). and well, now i live in chav-ville, with rubbish and broken glass.
I guess the UK is similar to the US and it all depends on where you live. If you live in one of the major cities like Philadelphia the streets are that way, but I live in a more rural area in the suburbs. The shopping areas and eateries are not really that dirty. You will get black feet but rarely see vomit or dog shit on the ground.
Yup, certainly is.. up here (Lincoln) it's glass and vomit, but it's fine down in Cambridge.. other cities I dunno about, never noticed.
i wouldnt be surprised if all of us uk hipformers were like living on the same street in chavsmania...
Hmm, I have actually barefooted around somewhere very close to you Jai, wasn't too bad, but the chavs didn't like it muchly.
i live quite near an area that is called Chalvedon, but whenever i see the sign I read it as Chaveldon would be more accurate that way  aww, wish we all lived on the same street, we could throw big hippie parties and the neighbours would never be upset.
i walk barefoot all the time i'm at home, in the garden, walking to the local shops or occasionally when i go into town on the bus but tis hard to ride a motorbike witout foot coverings al
sexy. i don't get why being barefoot is a "movement." because i'm neither a hippie nor a "barefooter." i, however, am continuously barefoot and cosleep and love gay people, etc.
