I've been trying to figure out if marijuana is truly dangerous to dogs.
I've heard they only get high if you blow it directly at them, but Ive also heard they just have to get some smoke. (im sure its the latter)
but, more importantly, ive heard they can overdose and ive heard they cant.

Im havin friends over to smoke tonight, and I have a puppy who's eight weeks old. I really need to know if they can really overdose, if not Ill probably smoke in the house, but if they can, ill do it in the garage.

    please help!!!

(p.s. I do not want to force my dog to get high, i'm not an animal abuser)

I have heard they cannabis just isn't good for them... I heard many stories where peoples pets died from it, and other stories where the pet loved it... I don't know what to believe, but I would avoid it.

I have a parrot and always smoke away from him. My logic makes me think that it isn't worth the risk.

Just smoking in the same room as the dog will not cause it any harm. I also wouldn't blow smoke into the face of an 8 week-old puppy. After the dog gets older, you can blow some smoke in it's face to see if it likes it. If it doesn't like it, don't do it again.

Me and my cousin used to get his dog stoned all the time. She would come and sit in the middle of the circle when we were smoking a blunt on the porch and everyone would blow every hit into the dog's face. When she had enough, she would walk off. That dog lived to be 16 years-old, so I don't think it's all that bad for them.

yeah idk i think to get them high you have to blow the smoke in their ear...just having them in the same room won't kill it it might be bad for their lungs especially if theyre that young tho

My dog is super dumb from merely being in the same room with pot smokers. She is also paranoid.

I saw these hilarious pics in a high times magazine. One had this cat holding onto a bong with its paws, sitting on its butt, and had this hilarious smile.
If anyone can find this pic that would be great!

Yeah, dogs will definitely gobble your weed. My friend had some on the table, left for a split second, and the dog chomped down on like 20 bucks worth of green. Suckitude. She said afterwards, the dog ate a shit-ton and then went to sleep.

This is absolutly not true. I volunteer at a vet. The vet i work with is 100% competent, and is a great vet. I have discussed it with her before, weed is in no way, shape or form does weed hurt them. Obviously though smoke is going to have some effect on their lungs, which isn't really a big deal. With that said, an 8-week old puppy is not a good plan. They are prone to a lot of things, and smoke would not be a good plan. Its like smoking a cigarette and blowing he smoke in the area of a few month old child. But to summarize, adult dogs positively will be fine, young puppies, not the best idea, but they will still almost deffently be fine.

Not when the dog is so young. Drugs do weird things to animals....psychologically. If its an older dog that's already been trained and everything they will probably handle getting high just fine.

Its probably ok to smoke in the same room with the puppy, just don't blow the smoke right at it. You could probably get an infant high and it wouldn't OD but would that be a good thing? No.

When the dog is old enough, to get it high you blow the smoke into the ear a little. You don't force it in there, you just lift the ear up a little and blow smoke at it. If they don't like it they may not hang around you much when you smoke. Feeding them weed works too but that also takes a lot of weed.

birds would be more sensitive (canary in a coal mine) so kudos to def zeppelin!

my cat will lay on top of me, and then moves to my side when hes had enough. its not nice to force animals to get high (IMO unless they are being total assholes and need to chill the fuck out, which happens occasionally with my fuckhead of a cat.... Didymus.) but even then only if you know they aren't allergic or anything. some animals dont like it, others adore you for it.

my friends had a little puppy it was a brown lab and boarder collie mix and they always smoked pot around it and sometimes blew it right in its face and ears when it was a little puppy and its grew up fine. i would say its around a year or 2 old now and its doing fine. it doesnt really like the smoke or anything it always goes and hides from it. they never blew it right at it very much when it was little but it was in the same room pretty much the whole time. with all that being said i wouldnt intentionally blow smoke at it or anything but smoking in the same room would be fine. i love dogs i wish i had one they are so cool when they are little puppys so fun and playful.
