Gee, THIS won't create a new blackmarket in prisons, as well as add to aggravation and hostility of inmates. (heavy sarcasm) This guy is SUCH a jerk. Who fuck had the lack of brains to vote for him.
what a retard. this is his plan to improve California?? Ban smoking in prisons? Why doesn't he concentrate on the growing poverty and crime rates in his state rather then the health and well-being of murderers and thugs locked in prisons? With the slop they have to eat and the filth they already live in...I hardly doubt stopping smoking is gonna improve anything.
Ahhhnold is another liberal who sold out to become a republican whore. Before he got elected he met with Bush's closed door energy meeting that took place in Beverly Hills California. After he got elected he dropped the lawsuits against Texas based energy companies and settled for pennies on the dollar. http://www.yuricareport.com/CalifRecall/Arnold_to_Settle_Lawsuits.html
"The ban would cover both inmates and staff at the state's adult and youth prisons, starting next year, except in staff housing when prisoners are not present and at Indian religious ceremonies." I'm not sure..... It was a joke! I'm not funny! Waah!
Let's not forget that it was Republican Congressman Daryl Issa that put $2 million of his own money into the recall campaign to get Arnold the position. Issa was also the one who got the government to buy cell phone equipment from Qualcomm (based in California) for use in Iraq. Iraq is on the other side of the globe where people use a system which is imcompatible with the U.S. system that Qualcomm will be using. (sort of like trying to use an American NTSC TV in a PAL country.) Who cares about compatibility, as long as Qualcomm got the contract.
Yep. I sure hope Ahhhnold never makes it as the next republican President. It's good to see your posts Shaggie. Keep up the good fight.
The republicans will never have another President. This is their last gasp. The population shift into the urban centers of the country has guaranteed that, barring some illegal electoral tampering. We are soon going to see the next shift, in which people realize the Democrats have become the "new right" and there will be a new party on the left (or hopefully we will simply break the two party system, entirely). I say good riddance.
I'm sure it does. But if you look at the census numbers, study the voting trends between urban and rural areas, look at where the concerns lie for people who live in larger urban areas, you'll see the overwhelming preference for more liberal government in cities. The envirnment makes a liberal hand more beneficial to the whole. The number are there. The power of the Republican party is crumbling. They will continue to get seats in the House and Senate, There will be Republican governors, but there will never be another Republican president. As the population increases, this will continue, eventually the Senate will start losing Republican Representatives, then the House. It's all a matter of population density. As long as we continue to increase our population, the Republican party hasn't got a chance.
Well, you're on a hippie board. I think it's safe to say that most people (real world folks aren't stupid enough to believe in the illuminati; the underground rich men controlling the universe. What is so wrong with political rants from professors, though? As long as it makes sense. Cornel West rants all the time, but he's making sense. The people who shouldn't rant are people like Inthewoods420. I don't really think Bush is going to win another term, but it's really a guessing game. The polls don't mean much at all. Like I've said in another post, the polls in October 2000 said that Bush had the popular swing, but in November we all know how that went. The whole "potential voters" thing is a total joke.
Funny, I don't remember mentioning anything about colleges. This does have to do with reducing the general level of ignorance, though. The thing is, that when you live in a large city, you learn quickly that what affects your neighbor affects you. It becomes in your best interests to make certain that your neighbor gets a fair shake, that health care, and the basic necessities of life aren't denied anyone. It also become impossible to pass judgement on people based upon simple cultural and lifestyle differences. Such things become tertiary concerns. It becomes more important to make sure that everyones rights are respected than to make sure that everyone's morla code is the same as yours. You become more tolerant of other cultures and other lifestyles because your proximity to them makes it easier to see that such differences don't really hurt anyone, so they are hardly worth bothering with. As I said, it's a matter of population density. The more people, the more advangageous being liberal becomes to the general populace. That's really all there is to it. The scales have tipped. The liberals outnumber the conservatives and the liberals have decided to start exercising their voting rights more vigorously. That's all she wrote for the conservatives.
Ohh, I see. Yeah. I know what you mean. None of my professors ever just go off on a tangent. I would expect it in a political science class, but it'd be strange for a music theory teacher to start going off on his own rant about politics. What college do you go to, by the way? No1: It's hard to know the concerns of the people in East L.A. when you're sitting pretty in your sprawling Vermont or Connecticut estate. The only problem is, I don't see the people you're talking about actually excersising their voting rights. I mean, supposedly the African-American and Latin-American populations in this country (generally democratic) aren't voting in hardly any numbers at all. Nothing is going to be changed for these growing populations if they don't vote. The Republicans are going to continue to win if Manuel and Jose aren't voting.
Wow, you are a really classy chick. ::snicker:: Honestly, I don't really care about cigarettes in prison or Arnold smoking his cigars. I just don't like the fact the Arnold GropenFurher is taking California for a ride and has become Bush's cabana boy.
I would hate to be a gaurd there while the inmates are suffering from all that nicotine withdrawl. I bet it's real cranky in there right now
