Hello, I joined the forum yesterday and I would like to share some of my artwork with you. My work is entilted "Dream Matter" and I refer to my style as " Oneiric Realism."

My work is an ongoing series of spontanous graphite and charcoal pieces ranging in size on illustration board and hot-pressed watercolor board.

I do not "make" Dream Matter..I allow it to grow upon the paper before me...allowing the growth of a dream -like enviroment, where the viewer's mind imagines surrealistic scenes.

" I draw with my pencil the cosmic dance..rendering from the primordial ooze the myriad things."

    DREAM MATTER NO. 19

    DREAM MATTER NO. 23

    DREAM MATTER No. 24

    DREAM MATTER NO. 25

I would be very interested in your interpretations of these pieces. Tell me what you see..what you feel..any feedback about your reaction to these works would be greatly appreciated.

The pieces are very different in person, due to the heavy thickness of the graphite these works are very difficult to photograph.

    Thanks for looking......Steve

When I see you art, it feels like the truth is unravelling and the answer is just RIGHT THERE, but not quite. A very strange feeling.. Other than my feeling, I love the work. My recommendation is that you stray from the basic design and differ from the other. Like the last one..

Your work is incredible..very flowing and beautiful, and also dreamlike as the name suggests. I would love to see these "in person" as I'm sure they're very different.

I must be a bit of a dick though. I find the whole dancing pen and primordial ooze thing a bit much. Why do so many artists feel the need to be so horrifically cheesy and pretentious??

It looks like they are souls melting together and swimming in primordial waters

Oh my god. Are you people serious? You speak such total, utter rubbish! Primordial ooze? COME ON. The pretentiousness makes me want to vomit in my mouth.

All I see is smoke, I understand what your trying to do and what countless others have done, pass off crap as art. Not saying your art is crap, but compared to pristine artists such as Vinci, David, even salvidor dali, but drawing smoke isn't something I'd pay to see, touch, or even be around. Theres nothing in your art. The last one you put up is cool because it kind of looks like two people but other than that, I'd go to art school.

Hey Andy and Squilla...It is fine with me if you don't care for my art or my thoughts about it..don't look at it or read about it...just move on.

Hey, this is nice work. The last one is more organic like a prenatal phase and the first one is a little more fractured, maybe too much for me. Anyway it's inspiring. Thanks for posting.

i find your work interesting and i believe that there is much more to it than at first meets the eye. the drifting quality of your pieces definitely stress the ambiguity of the dream-state. the pieces definitely have a sense of depth and real space, which also typifies a dream-state.

it's also very interesting to see what other people's subconscious minds are capable of. keep up the good work

the naysayers are just jealous lol

I'm not sure how to react to these. Everything is so gray and it looks silent and like death! It's cool that you can be patient enough to do them, but they're kind of depressing on my side, personally.

No no...Your work is excellent and I REALLY like it. What I don't like is the way you describe it...Using horrifically phony, complex words to sound more intelligent than you probably are. Its just so pretentious >_<
