My brother took his family & me out to dinner last night. For anyone who has never been to "Casa Bonita" hurry up and get there as its fabulous!!! There was a few people doing a cliff divers show while we ate....yup there's an indoor waterfall, and another type of show. There was a group walking around playing spanish music & somehow my brother got them to sing "happy birthday" to me in spanish.
having worked as clean up crew in the Ft Worth location: NEVER eat there. Casa Bonita is Taco Bueno's parent company. but worse and greasier. It's one of those places only out of towners go. If you live in denver, be kind, and take your guests to Buckhorn Exchange for slabs of dead things and cowboy history or Watercourse Foods for veggie heaven. Nice Indian downtown, too with India House (caters Ratdog's hotel rooms...don't ask how I know, but the food arries in pristine layout) and Little India. Colfax has a swath of Eithiopian, plus the best one on Santa Fe in the Arts district.
Casa bonita, lol My friend took me there. The food was disgusting. The whole carry your food on a tray thing is so tacky. I like the little haunted/scary cave thing. The waterfall jumpers were cool. But the foood. EEeeeegh!
Hahah casa bonita is the strangest place! I remember going there as a little kid and I loved it, but I always thought it was bizarre. Its a great place to check out, especially if you have little kids with you. Its really entertaining. I don't know about the food...everyone says its disgusting, but I really don't remember.
Pete's on Colfax for great Greek food, and La Hala on Colorado and Evans for Middle Eastern. Casa Bonita, not very good.
People go to casa bonita for the environment, but never for for the food. Kids love the place.....The sopapias are friggin awesome, I still think it's a cool place to go. You can't find sopapias (however you spell it) like those in the east. Here they are a hard crunchy cinnamon chip with cool whip and chocolate. http://www.southparkzone.com/episode-vid-711.htm
well, sopapillas are simply Indian fry bread, puri and a billion other fried puffy bread variants. where in "the East" are ya? I might know a secret score....
I live in the Bourbon capitol of the world.....Kentucky. Mexican food here is a lot different than what I used to have in Denver. If you ask them for a "smothered burrito" they don't know what you're talking about. And if you ask for some green chili they'll bring you some been dip with a pepper.....It SUCKS. There was this place I used to love, I think it was called Santiago's or something like that. Ever eat there?
oh, man, that's almost as bad as Cincy chili! I think you'll have to look to where workers congregate: that area is starting to get a presence with immigrant and migrant labor, I believe. find the ramirezes or recent vintage and you will find a taqueria.
taco salad is the only edible item on the menu, but the netretainment is hilarious, especially if anyone has watched the south park episode....such a strange place in the middle of a strip mall....
I posted a link to the episode above. You can watch any episode ever released in it's entirety on that site. The Casa bonita episode was an instant classic for me because I remember getting all excited like Cartmen whenever my parents would take me there. Flippin cool man...flippin cool
I went to the Texas CB once, and I'd say the fried pineapple ring was the only edible item. I had fish, and I have been veg since 80, so that's a LONG time ago.
I live about a mile from Casa Bonita in Lakewood. My acupuncturist is across the street and I was soooooo HAPPY to find out that the Dollar Tree next to Casa Bonita has frozen food and a huge food section. My happiness about Casa Bonita
holy shit, i love Watercourse! ironically, i lived RIGHT around the corner when i first moved to denver, but never found out it was there until AFTER i moved! damn it all to hell. but either way, i love love love it.
Casa Bonita has some foul food.. blaaaa. It had middle school hot lunch flashbacks as I walked to my table with a sectioned plastic tray with scoops of bland cafeteria food on it. I managed to eat some of the guacamole and chips, the guacamole tasted like it was from a huge industrial sized can, the rest of the meal was not editable. We went there 3 years ago and my family still jokes about how bad the food was.
