-That all parts make up a larger whole, that all truths are true, but only partially. That there is a bigger picture to the mosaic of ideas and philosophies, if we just dig a little deeper into ourselves and the universe. That there is an evolution of our own consciousness occuring as we speak. To riff off Lenon, "Evolution is, If you Want it." That we can ultimately transform and find deeper, more inclusive meaning in this fragmented world. Is it possible? I guess I'm asking that, and opening it up for a discussion.
conciousness is fragmented ? i think a part of it may get repressed (as by predjudice) but only retreats to a safe place and is never lost . is any child born incompletely concious ? something happens that so many feel deficient . i wouldn't know about evolution of conciousness . seems hopeful . as it may happen then it must happen for all life . i don't much care for the human-centric 'we' . we are not alone , and we are loved . something happens that so many feel deficient . the human-centric 'we' does it .
Consciousness Evolution almost appears to be an objective fact, if only we didnt all have different opinions on which direction it is activley growing towards :tongue: I think when you look at history and see how language came about, how the distinction and capability to observe more and more hues of colour came about, how the sense of understandning and manipulating sound into music came about, how eventually a sort of moral code developed out of tribal ritual into an almost universal sense of right and wrong (only in extreme cases, of course), and last but certainly not least, how spiritual teachers started springing up one by one until there have been hundreds of thousands of people documented, from every walk of life and in nearly every manner of sharing their message to us, and if you notice most of them reach that at a similar age, to be approximate, 30 years. The rapid growth of the microcosm reflects the slow and steady growth of the macrocosm and it becomes quite clear. A child first develops a sense of colour, then a sense of music, then a sense of true, unselfish morality, and if God see's fit, the next step into Universal, or Christ, or Krsna Consciousness, whatever you want to call it.
I agree with all of that. I'm quite into the whole thing of Integral Yoga, which more or less says the same thing.
Nay, all ideas are true in the mind of their speaker, thus they all exist as a truth, in the plane of some mind. Each viewpoint is complimented by it's opposite viewpoint, and a thousand others that vary only slightly, and then more so, lie at their sides; all progress when the lines intersect, when views are shared. Two may collide and become one, or bounce off of eachother, or skid to other directions. The idea being, no human is to be blamed for their thoughts, feelings or actions, because they are the result of their environment, genetics, and soul. Each person's views are crafted by their minds, which are crafted by the turns their lives take, something often not in their control, as if true control could exist. In this every person has a different angle on life, this takes some manifestation in their beliefs, and more obviously in their day-to-day function. Oy, to add the ideas or minds of all would be to paint an incredible picture of all that is truly human. Then could be a great way to see who we all really are.
It's so natural for us to see only through our own point of view. While expressing one attitude or another, we tend to find things that naturally reinforce it. "Oh, yes, see? That makes such sense." We sort of let it sink into our minds, sharpening its talons so that it may defend its truth. I can't help but see this happen in myself and others. They are so much like clouds that sink to the tips of the trees, and only allow us to see so far. No matter how we fight them, we won't be able to 'push' them away. The very way the world looks is through the fog. So then I can't help but to begin to question the importance of viewpoints. If the clouds have sunk into our eyes, we will not see anything more. To recognize this fog is more important. No more shining lights into a haze, if the haze is just going to reflect back our light.
