Sounds reasonable to me.It'd be a genuine pisser to republics tho--their credo seems to be "make it on your own ,you fucken worm--don't expect me to sympathize".And working stiffs that vote republic never saw a right wing ass they didn't want to kiss.
If anyone watched Frontline last night concerning the medical systems of some other countries, you now know that the only reason anyone could have objections to a one payer system with an opt out clause would be ignorance or selfishness. It's probably on the net.Watch it and then try to explain yourselves.
I have a chronic disease, I was born with it. I can't get insurance to cover it, I've called every insurance I know of. None will cover this pre-existing condition. The cost of one week's worth of medicine I need to controll it (so I don't have more ER visits) is more than I make in a month. I rely on my Dr to give me samples of medicine or else I'm screwed. I make under $7 an hour in conditions that make the health problem worse. Where is my choice? You would think that by paying taxes I would have some sort of benefit for something.
There are those,as I have mentioned ,that would say--"tough shit you fucken failure.Shoulda' done better".(hint:conservatives).I am not one of them ,as I believe it should be a right to be able to lead a healthy life. How dare the congress-people have socialized medicine for themselves and their familes and vote it down for us.I'm sorry you 're having health problems,Amber.Maybe you should consider another country, somehow.
The way many social structures work is through the government and people making unsaid agreements; the main one is: "I'll be a productive working member of society who pays their taxes, and you protect me". While I think that it would be glorious for the government to provide healthcare, with this agreement in mind, most productive members of society should be able to provide for their own healthcare. But in reality, "I call bullshit". Cancer will fuck over any family financially, except for the really well off. But the cost of government healthcare would be astounding, and could only be provided for by high taxes. Imagine, though, using all of the money we use to kill people to save them. That would be awesome. Fuck HMOs who won't cover people, and fuck wars.
Under a goverment healthcare system if you have a catastophic illness or injury the goverment doctor will probably be instructed to inject you with too much morphine.
i have not seen a doctor of any kind in over 20 years have pulled one of my own rotten teeth wear thrift store glasses who needs 'em?
Or not, there's that little thing called the Hippocratic oath. People are generally sent to hospices if they're terminally ill, where they get pain relief.
