Too much of anything can be bad."We are putting 70 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere everyday."Causing us actually putting an whole in the ozone layer.Makeing our protection from the ultra-violet rays lower(which causes skin cancer) too.Causing ice glaciers and ice sheets to melt, which makes it hard for polar bears to live.Causing many other animals that depend on the ice sheets and glaciers to die and eventually go extinct too.Causing many other things too(too many to list). What can we do about it?Do what they did back in the old days."Get up stand up for your is right get up stand up, dont give up the fight."There is many ways to conserve the Earth but, there is like 10 forums about it.So I just thought i oould put that out there. You learn alot more about this promblem if google global-warming.
Nice facts brother. Many people talk about how recycling is good and how they do it. But usually those people go store and buy plastic bags wich they use when they dump theyre trash in to forest. People shouldn't throw away somuch stuff that they could repair or sell in second hand store. But i'm very happy cause i know people here don't do that
There is no way our generation can stop it. Too many people (say, large corporations) are too greedy for the money! (Which I tried to point out in my own thread) And this greed for all the money you get from owning say for arguments sake 50 or more factories in all the Third World countries. These factories then make things that are going to clog up our waterways, and eventually enough burn a hole right through the ozone layer. It's quite disgusting but honestly, what can we do? the people with the power to change things are the people who don't want to.
I agree but, we cant just say no we can't do it we have to try.I rather go up to god and say, i tried instead of saying, impossible wasnt woth trying.Henry ford once said "you can if you say you can and you cant if you say you cant."Do you know how many people drive a car and are polluting the worldas we speak. We cant just sit here.We must have courage.
Young one, you have not yet experienced all you can. Believe me, I have gone to Peace marches. The atmosphere, the willingness to make changes, it was there but it was nearly transparent. Just look at the Sixties man. The hippies back then had to radicalize in order to be heard, and what happened? Nothing. I'm not saying I don't have faith, but I wish I could say that most of the people on this website are actually going to get out from in front of the computer screen and go organize a peace march. If you are willing to try, then we at least stand a chance.
Omg realism? Are you sure you're a hippie? jk. <3 The hippies & other folks back then DID change things, though. Remember when the Vietnam war ended? Remember when Dr. King marched on Washington? Remember when the youth burned their draft cards and marched through the streets, chanting "hell no, we won't go"? Remember when they formed collectives and alternatives to the capitalist system? That ain't nothing. But WORD to everything else. Seriously.
why peace marches? why not find a cheap useful green and fairtrade alternative for a common household item that people replace every other year? there is a limit to what peace marches can do, those people you were talking about (helter-skelter), you could sense their willingnes to actually make a positive change right? that's soo awesome! i wish i would there only to be inspired by all those wonderful people, but since the government and big corporations i think we better take some of the punks DIY mentality and come up with alternatives ourselves, market them ourselves, we gotta do it ourselves until those governments and big corporations jump on the bandwagon and even than we should go on to do it ourselves, this is the way to take back our power to truely be responsible for our world and what happens to it. the only reason i'm in college is because i want to gain some knowledge about the system and how it works so i can use it in the advance of the green movement.
You know, if we keep this DIY mentality, and then everyone starts doing things for themselves and large corporations jump on this bandwagon, then even that would sell-out. And nodirectionhome, I realize things were done beck then, but how long did it actually take? How much violence did it eventually cause? These days none of these people are going to get off their lazy asses and go out into the world and do something about it! (And I hope you realize I just said it that way so that it would motivate you )
Have you ever tought that people in africa die becose someone here uses hairspray? I just caught it and it's pretty terrible
Did you also realize that while these african children (not just africans mind you, but it's an example) are dying of hunger and starvation while people who pose in front of cameras or act like someone else in front of a camera make tons of money (enough to feed plenty of third world countries) Does anyone else find that disturbing?
yes yes yes. i say that to people all the time. it makes me so mad because the usual response is something like "well, i'm NOT a starving child in Africa." they don't realize that we're all just here by mistake and they could just as easily be someone else.
The Iraqi war was none more than a ploy to be able to get an oi pipeline through. (Or was that Afghanistan?) Anyway, the two recent wars led by the Americans were only initiated for secret reasons known to only the American government.
"Why should some have millions when millions have none", is what I always say. Well, not always, that would be weird and annoying. Just when the situation calls for it. Join the International Socialists. We need people like you.
Stalin = Babylon and like one finish reggae band said "You have nothing but a sorrow in the mighty babylon"
Sadly I have to say that I understand you. A lot of people have bad experience with regimes like the USSR. I am the first to admit that Russia from ca 1922 onward was definitely tyrannical in nature and far from a Worker's utopia. I blame Stalin, though it is of course not all his doing. But fact remains that Stalin was a tyrant and a terrorist and basically destroyed everything that the Russian worker had fought and died for in two Revolutions, while claiming to continue the Communist ideals! Seriously, I spit on him and his degenerated worker's state. Obviously we strive to do a better job than Stalin or Mao did. But the International Socialist movement is not actively trying to incite a revolution just yet (at least not here in the Netherlands). Basically at the moment we're mostly trying to make people aware that revolutionary socialism is not dead, and that we can make this a fairer world if we all just stick together! We are also heavily involved in the organisation of anti-war, anti-conservatism and anti-racism rallies. Eh... but this is not the politics forums so I'll just shut my mouth again.
