Ohhh sure while churning out music SHIT............how many people here have heard a bad ass local band. yet instead of getting signed the record labels want another band that sounds like whatever is popular right now.

I could make a living from this, but unfortunately I'm shit at making music. I can't even make one good song! If I could make 1 good song I'd release it, and make some money from it, then bugger of to India for a few months, then come back and try and write another good song, or maybe GET A JOB.

the simple answer to that is going to the websites of people who make the kind of music you personally like, that don't get played on clear channel or what have you, and fallowing their links to other bands THEY like, of similar genre and musicians they know or have colaborated with and so on, downloading their samples which are theirs to offer, those who do, buying their music off of THEM directly, either through their websites, or going to their table or booth at music festivals where the person you buy it from is probably one of the band memebers themselves.

my point is, hell no, you DON'T have to support the fucked up music 'industry'. and you don't have to break copyright, or any other laws to do so either, although this might be easier or more difficult depending on your personal tastes. the more mundane they are the more difficult this will be, though it might still be possible. but if you like something even a little bit exotic, you might find this not difficult at all.

and damd good music that way too. way better i think, then anything you'll ever hear in the so called mainstream.

    same.

The music buisness for the most part only invests in you if you can crank a hit out for them, and the hits they look for are not art, so artists are left in the dark.
