Aside from breeding purposes, there is not really much THC availiable from males. You could try to bubblebag them (hash) but the yield is not really worth the effort for one plant. Off with his head!

Usually, after the plants start alternating nodes you should see the preflowers start to form. The girls will have the telltale twin white hairs while the males form the little "banana cluster". Some don't show until the 12/12 cycle and are indeterminate - usually male but not always. Go check some of Subcools photos in the Querkle thread. Excellent photos.
