great band, minus steve wilsons utterly silly singing and lyrics. hes a great guitarist, though. their earlier stuff is best, such as the sky moves sideways and signify.

Nothing inspiring behind their music, unless you're into boredom.

youve obviously not listened to much porcupine tree, i discovered them early last year and got veru INSPIRED going through their back catalogue, treust me if you listen to more than just lazerus and blackest eyes which is all people seem to know (though both great songs in my opinion) youll discover a truely brilliant band

Very good. I've got In Absentia, Deadwing, and Fear of a Blank Planet. Their latest is my favorite. Steven Wilson = one of the greatest producers/mad geniuses ever!

I can testify to Porcupine Tree's greatness! They are incredible... how they can sell out places that are three times as big as other venues that not even big name bands like Megadeth or Snow Patrol can sell out without making a name for themselves and getting publicity... I have no clue. I've seen them six times on five different tours now, and they are excellent live. I recommend this band to everyone. Definitely one of the best bands of the last 30 years... SW is a genius.

You're in for a treat, as I assume because you live in Europe that you're likely to get Sky Moves Sideways when you see them....

PT is amazing. Saw them in Toronto not too long ago. Fear of a Blank Planet and Signify are 2 unbelievably amazing albums.

Yeah, not a lot of people have heard of them, which is a shame, because at their best they are easily pink floyd quality.

Listen to Dark Matter for example.

Yeah, Porcupine Tree is a great band, they're starting to get a little more popular here in the States, which is well deserved! Although I'm not really crazy about the direction they're going in with FoaBP, they still produce consistently great music, and FoaBP is still good, but it doesn't feel like Porcupine Tree the way they were before. I do think that's good in a way though because it means their music is always evolving; every album's different!

Sorry about the rant I just love this band!

Here's some other bands you'll like if you're a Porcupine Tree fan:
    Demians
    The Pineapple Thief
    Katatonia
    Big Big Train
    Kino
    Frost*
    RPWL
    Sylvan

I could go on but you guys will love these bands if you like Porcupine Tree!

I can't believe anyone could say anything bad about Porcupine Tree. Steven Wilson is god. I've seen them many times and am blown away every time.

Thanks for the suggestions, Johnny Tsunami! I've already looked up Demians and Big Big Train and I'm diggin' them both.

To repay you, if you don't already know of these bands, look up:

    Amplifier
    Pure Reason Revolution
    Oceansize
    Riverside

    :)
