Getting weed in strange cities

I know its fairly easy to get weed when you have connections and shit, but what if you're vacationing in a (new) city for a couple days and you want to smoke? The Jamaica thread gave me the idea to make this thread. Mostly because everyone knows there's a lot of ganja in Jamaica, but how would you get weed there? What about Vancouver? Or possibly cities where it is illegal, like New York, Boston, etc?

You arrive in this "new" city, get a hotel room, but then what are you supposed to do? Just walk around an urban area until you find weed?
