hey Guys long time lurker but anyway i was thinking about getting a diffused downstem instead of the normal one. The
guy at the headshop said it was just a matter of preference. anyone got any good advice.

which shop? I haven't been to smoke signals since they moved into that much larger store.

I've always liked the ashcatcher into a diffuser downstem setup...but not sure if there's any meaningful gain.

headed west on broadway and belleview ish is my go to shop anymore, but I used to frequent the old smoke signals for sure.

If you get an ash catcher there's never anything to clean :)

The diffusion makes the hit smoother and the smoke cooler and requires less water, so it's good for small bubblers and shit. A normal downstem makes big bubbles, like soap bubbles or something, and the diffuser makes smaller bubbles, but more of them, like champagne bubbles. What's inside the bubbles doesn't actually touch the water, so the point of the smaller bubbles is to increase the surface area that does touch the water.

if they are the same price, definitely get a diffuser. it makes more, smaller bubbles so the smoke has more surface area touching the water, thus giving a smoother smoke, and the bong milks faster.
