I know that there has been talk of this on a federal level with the pres canidates but I didn't understand that because neither clinton or obama will be in office to make such a change over the summer. am I missing something? now I see this article that In new york, they are suspending the tax and having a 'gas tax holiday'. they are talking about the federal gas tax which is about 18 cents a gallon. this tax goes to the federal highway funds which take care of roads and bridges which are in a state of decay in America. over the course of 3 months of average driving, that won't make much of a dent in the overall fuel cost. in short, it is a political gimick to garner votes
