I'm trying to find a lube for anal use. I don't need recommendations for that specifically, as I searched through the forums and found some good leads on that alreayd. The problem is, previously I had tried Astroglide, although I was just experimenting and using for vaginal mainly. HUGE mistake. Within a minute every spot of my skin that had been touched with the stuff started burning severely, and sadly kept increasing. The inside and outside skin - yeowch! The burn was similar to the cayenne pepper burn you get on your fingers if you chop them without gloves. I mean, this burn irritation was extreme and had me gasping in pain. I'm trying to figure out what I was so allergic or irritated by. I'm not allergic to anything else in the world that I know of, and I use glycerin in body products I make for myself (lotions and such). It's also in other products I use on my skin that's store bought. I also use makeup, lotions, and perfumes without problems, and I'm sure many of those have the common Parabans as a preservative. I don't have sensitive skin. So, what's in the astroglide that caused such a horrid reaction...? I'm guessing it must have been glycerin or parabans as those are the most likely culprits, so to be safe there are glycerin free ones out there. Not sure if I can find one that's both glycerin AND paraban free, though. Anyone experienced something similar? I have to order lube online (my county banned sex shops, and I don't want to drive into the next county just for a bottle of lube!), so I'm trying to research beforehand to avoid unneeded $$$ and shipping waiting. I'm leaning toward silicone since it's for anal and that contains usually no glycerin, having trouble finding sample packs that aren't mainly water based though.
I can't use any silicon based lubes for vaginal..I end up with an infection..Eros is wonderful for anal, but it too is silicon based..If I use it I have to be careful ..but damn...it is good!!
There is a lube called O'my, which is all natural, my friends who get a reaction can use it. Or I hear I.D. is good.
By irritation, do you mean actual rash or just insane burning sensation. If there wasn't any rash or swelling, make sure you were using PLAIN astroglide. Astroglide and a couple other companies have come out with a "warming sensation" lube, which is supposed to impart a pleasant warmth to the experience. When my GF and I used it, we were rolling in agony withing a minute. It felt like I had jerked it with Bengay(sorry for the visual). Anyway, if there was no rash, I'd bet you got some of the crotch of fire lube. Allergies would usually cause redness, swelling, or a rash. Anyway, waterbased lubes are healthiest and usually benign. You should be able to get lube anywhere condoms are sold. I get mine at walgreens. Cheers
