ketchup vs. catsup

I don't get how something spelled Catsup could sound the same as Ketchup

now the word just sounds weird to me

Most people I know spell it ketchup or pronounce it so.

Catsup sounds too much to me like 'cat soup' lol...
On the other hand, in school I was told that the correct form is actually 'catsup'...

 

I say ketchup and after reading the link scarlett posted, I have more reasons to say ketchup. I like Heinz ketchup, better than Hunt's, Hunt's is too watery for me. So Ketchup it is.
