i believe that one of the most important factors in the decline and eventual destruction of human society has a lot to do with what you may call "ADD."

every year, there are more and more people born. these people are born into a world where attention spans last for minutes at best. with the increasingly media saturated world, attention spans get shorter and shorter. case in point, notice how much crap there is on the screen whenever you watch the news, and how much more there is every year?

so while the attention span grows shorter, our ability to think clearly also decreases. less time spent learning concepts, and less patience for doing things that are difficult leads to a society that becomes more and more dependant on the service industry each waking day. we all are slaves of the service industry, whether you choose to aknowledge it or not, we all are playing a part in this.

the media controls our thoughts, corporations and governments control our actions. now while this is all happening, of course, the people at the top of the pyramid grow wealthier and wealthier due to our increased ineptitude for even caring about issues, none the less also not having the ability to think about one thing long enough to see through lies or inconsistancies.
so there we are, a great proletariate basically brainwashed by our own culture, treated like mushrooms. kept in the dark and fed bullshit daily.

so what happens when the government(s) collapse(s)? who can stand alone and support themselves? what do you think? just take a look around, and think about how meany people even right NOW would never make it in nature.
most everyone's dependant in one way or another, whether it's the food we eat or the drugs we take to "make things right."

so all of you that have knowledge that will help mankind to survive in a world without knowledge of such things should deffinitely put some thought into spreading the word as much as they can. whether it's bow hunting, or growing crops, everybody will need to know SOMETHING along those lines to survive.

    Americans have become pussies.

How many people would rather go through a drivethrough and sit there for an hour, than going into the freaking fast food restaurant, and just order and leave?
How many of us can't handle walking half a mile to the Texaco, but we have to find a ride?
Why do we drive two miles? Compare: Louis and Clark.
How come our kids are getting D's and F's in school? While others are studying calculus in the sixth grade?
How come we would rather play video games than study particle physics theory?
We wake up in the morning, think about all the things we should do, and all we could do, and yet we turn on the television.
We turn on the television to distract our kids.
We feed our kids fruit loops for breakfast.
We can't even take care of ourselves. Yoga, a simple, fucking thing, is AMAZING to people.
    We are lazy fucking idiots.

ADD- Forget it. Yes ADD is a problem. However, it wouldn't even be a problem if we would get off our asses and stop relying on the media. If parents would hand their kids a book instead of turning on Spongebob.

If we could teach our kids about life and nature, and reality, instead of saying "watch some blue's clues."

but what's the fun in THAT :p

also, i don't it's only america that has the problem, it's all of the "western" world. it's worldwide consumerism taken to the extreme. you have producer nations and consumer nations, the two of which are carefully balanced. oh, and don't forged the "enemy" nations too, those have to be added in there.

but all of this still feeds into the same thing, a brainwashed and sedantary populace, completely incapable of doing anything for themselves.

While i sometimes meander in my mind about the governmental collapse. As well as the fact that this type of stuff is happening, i cant help but feel useless. I also dont think a collapse is coming soon.

It seems a lost effort to even try, aside from spreading awareness and good values to those i speak to. There is no hope for the ignorant majority.

I think add is completely made up sometimes, in fact i think a majority of mental illnesses are made up. Mostly depression. I mean some humans are smarter than others, that is a fact. Sometimes i believe the phamaceutical industry/media/parents/doctors push ADD on parents with kids that just arent as fast thinking as other kids.
They all buy into it, hoping that its not their or their child's fault that their brain wasnt as well created as others.
Sure give the child a pill of speed, that will make his slow brain more concentrating. Obviously.

I dont even watch the news anymore, because every time i do. Well id just put it in these simple words: its fucking crazy.

political and economic colapse isn't the end of anything, other then some of the illusions of ease a lot of people just have never imaged, let alone experienced anything else then.

but there are other people who are very familiar with the very things their not.

so its more of an envening out, if and when it happens, and it can, is even likely to.

i haven't wasted time on television for years. not since the build up to the invasion of iraq. not since even all the hype that was being built up fallowing the events of 2001.

it is not THAT difficult to imagine a world NOT based on todays familiar assumptions, and a world NOT all that much better or worse without them.

it is only a matter of time until such a world no longer needs to be imagined, but it won't be the end of anything when it comes. other then a lot of people, and people in places where we're not expecting to, dieing of starvation and disease.

but that too will pass, to whatever degree it comes to that, and then, after that, there will be those born to a world with a little more elbow room, to whome today's problems will be no more then a difficult to believe curiosity from a forgotten past.

I too believe that ADD is overprognosed, and the subsequent medication is overly prescribed. But what pill isn't overly prescribed now? The pharm industry is getting more and more powerful every day, leading to more and more "illnesses" with "miracle cures." People just need to quit swallowing everything that's fed to them, whether it's pills, ideas, or huge amounts of fast food, none of it's good for the body or the psyche, or society.

yes, the disease is the culture, and the culture that is promoted of, by and for, economic intrests. they WANT us to all be, for all practical purposes attention deficeted, so we can keep being ever more easily manipulated so they can keep making us more and more dependent on indenturing ourselves to keeping their hands in our pockets.

any bets, if there were no automobiles, no guns and no television, there's be no a.d.d.?

MAYBE there still would a little, i don't know, but there's probably no way of testing that, other then maybe, if there is anyplace, which i doubt, that doesn't have any of those things, how many people there still do.

i'm not saying people arn't really suffering from real things either. only that the existence of these things comes from the same thing that is screwing everything up, and that is the comodification of everything. comodification being a fancy word that boils down to all this trying to make everything have to begin and end with little green pieces of paper.

the system is established to run the system, that runs the system, which in part supports the system, which then funnels money back into the system, then forgets about the system that supports it all.

precisely. it also forgets that it takes sentient life forms to move its little green pieces of paper arround for it. fat lot of good that's going to do either 'the system' OR us sentient life forms.

which is what led to the, granted fantasy and speculative, and yes, even a bit whimsical and silly, none the less perspective, of little green pieces of paper being an invading alien life form. i mean emparically, it could almost be interpreted that way.

but also to the very real conclusion that no one, is REALLY in charge, even though a few 'at the top', skimming off the cream, appearently imagine that they are.
