A very terrible thing for someone to do. I was asleep and some of my hair got conditioner worked into it. When I woke up I put an end to it, but I wonder, am I too late? I washed it with Dr. Bronner's tea tree bar soap, but I can still smell the conditioner scent around some of my hair. Is it impossible to get out? It is worse than say, wax?

    You should be fine.
My friend who did my dreads uses conditioner in her hair, since her dreads are hard and mature enough and hers are always amazing looking. But I think hers was organic or something. I don't know if there is organic conditioner I'm just guessing.

The only thing I would worry about is if you start to smell sulfer. Since so much chemical shampoo has sulfer in it. If after a couple washes your locks start to have a funk I'd mix up some peppermint extract spray and spray the hell out of them.

And yeah, that is a HORRIBLE thing for someone to do. Did they think it was funny, what's the story behind it? I love your locks, they're so pretty!

What kind of person would do that to you? Sorry 'bout that...

Try an ACV rinse, too. They're great for removing funk. Mix it in a bucket and dunk your head several times...

wow, what an inconsiderate thing for someone to do! If your dreads are just starting to form, it might have some effect on the locking process. But judging from your pic, it looks like yours are already pretty mature, so I don't think you have much to worry about if they are already locked up.

I would say to wash good with either baking soda, or do a rinse with ACV. Both of those do a great job of deep cleaning.

Well that is all good to hear, thanks all! I always thought conditioner helps take out tangles and knotts, but if you guys've used it maybe it helps in other ways.
    Thanks again!

Oh yeah, the story behind it. I had a court date today and with my hair pulled back I have a big tangled mess and I looked like a sterotypical "homeless person." My friend thought if she undid my dreads while I was asleep I would thank her after the court's decision. Fortunately(?) my case was the last of the day and they didn't have time so they send me away and set a new court date.

I know having my hair the way it is sets a giant obstacle for me in the court, simply because- to the average joe, I look like I don't care about myself.
So I can't blame her for what she did. I'm at odds because I know if things don't go in my favor I'll end up spending a lot of time and money for the rest of the year or so. Trying to weigh how important having dreads is to me vs ending up cutting in vein.
