Why is there no forum for general western philosophy? or what about philosophy such as rationalism or logic or what about philosophic history this 'philosophy and religion' forum is all about religions and spiritualities, it doesnt seem to be interested in philosophy that does not involve religious/specifically nonreligious stances.
Ever eaten a tough steak that was hard to chew? That's western philosophy for you. Dry. Early Greek thought maybe. Everything else is rather droll. The problem is you want to keep everything on a mental level. By it's very nature, the mind will come to the conclusion that there is indeed something beyond itself. The spiritual journey is the next level up. You must include it or at least hint at it. Otherwise, you get the sound of one lip flapping. x
Yeah, actually, it would be cool to include; if you have a topic in mind, though, just start it, people will check it out
philosophy: the critical study of the basic principles and concepts of a particular branch of knowledge, esp. with a view to improving or reconstituting them. this is included throughout this forum. if you are concerned about there not being a place for philosophy without theism, or a focus on the lack thereof, try existentialism or agnosticism. you'll notice, if you take a second look, there isn't a section for eastern philosophy either. they aren't divided that way. i was under the impression that the ideas found in existentialism, christianity and metaphysics were western in origin. it probably would be a good idea for there to be more western philosophies included. maybe you could compile a short list of ones that are worthy. i have to agree with xexon, as well. what is philosophy without the question of our origin? what is the question of origin without the question of the existance of a creator?
