That will vary depending on what is normal in your area and your circumstances. Your lawyer would be the best one to answer that. Getting into and completing a drug rehab prior to the trial or sentencing is usually a good suggestion. If it's your first offence, they generally want to give you a light sentence unless they are looking for someone to make an example of, or you have managed to piss off the DA or judge.
I agree with oink. When I lived in alabama i got a felony drug charge. They had this drug court program, which was hell to complete, but when i did complete it my felony was dropped.
