hey love... thanks for the compliment! god... styling them has been almost nonexistent, as they are too short to pull back (especially at the front) and they shrank so much after i first put them in. headbands... i put one on every single day until a month or so ago when i realized i could pull a few strands from the front sides of my head back and clip them and tuck a few others in it. then i found out i could get them back into little pigtails! yay! i can finally style them, lol! short dreads can be such a pain in the ass, because it's hard to keep them out of your face. but patience is paying off now!

Despite living in Canada, I am from North Carolina. Way back in the country, not the city NC. So I know all about the bible belt. Born and raised in it for 13 years.

By the way, if you're just taking it from my initial post.... those are my suggestions and personal thoughts/opinions. Not what it states on the website.
And what's wrong with suggesting to use tightening gel to keep down friz? Some people like to look their best at certain occasions... and let's all be honest. In the higher paying jobs looking good usually means a better chance of getting the job.

And another thing is, is that I did come to these forums for help. Advice on how to thicken dreads and straighten out lumps. I did get a few good responses, but most of them were "just lay back and have them do their own thing, man." So if your main concern is to help people... that advice isn't that helpful.
I mean sure, have them do their own thing to an extent, but everything in life needs a helping hand from something.

goggling the definition of dreadlocks you get this
[size=-1]Dreadlocks, sometimes called simply dreads or locks, are matted ropes of hair which will form by themselves if the hair is allowed to grow naturally without the use of brushes, combs, razors or scissors for a long period of time. The word itself comes from the Bible and the "dread" of God. ...

so perhaps only those with natural unbackcombed dreads truly have dreads according to this definition

dreads are a natural occurance its what happens naturalyy when u accept living more naturaly and especialy allowing your hair to return to its natural state

wax gels and ptoducts are not natural to your hair therefore unnatural waxy dreads cannoit be concidered dreads at all since they are not nstural

(sorry this was over dramatized to prove a point i'm not claimming i dont belkieve ya have dreads , but by this definition..and the spoirit of the journey.. you dont)

dopeman you dont even want dreads and u never did you just want to look cooler then ya are..i understand but maybe a mohawk would fit ya better

If you search google you'll come up with a lot of BS, anyway.

Wax is natural. It comes from bees.
Gel is natural, Aloe plants make it naturally from the sugar and oils they produce.

Not all dreads that are done by using products are waxy. Mine are tight on the inside and soft on the outside, damn comfy if you ask me.

But I believe I've proved my point in that you haven't really even bothered to do more than skim over these sites and products... automatically assuming that they're bad and will ruin your dreads.

skim over the hundreds of threads here abiut dreads that in fact were ruined and either combed out or cur oiff after using theyre products

do u want instant dreads that last a year or 2 or do u want real dreads that last a lifetime

if u want dreads that last a lifetime you dont use anything that could potentialy limmit theyre lifespan

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreadlock interesting read
notice theres only 1 mention of wax or products and thats about salons trying to capitalize on a trend
as they become more popular and salons more obsolete they created products just for dreads and made the less informed believe they were good for dreads

do you think ancient cultures went to salons to hsve theyre locks waxed ?

i think its funny how dopeamin tells someone with dreads for 18 years that its a rats nest when all he has is a checkerboard head. Seriously dude chill out. Everytime you post something its just to insult, or beef yourself up. This is a free speech forum, so villi has the right to post, as does soaring, obviously if you read through the board you will find TONS of people who got nasty "dreads" from products and ended up starting over. Soaring is trying to save people from this, and from the fact that you dont need these products to obtain dreads or love your hair. If you have or still do use their products and enjoy spending your money then congrats to you, but really you dont need to make any posts about this because obviously its all over the internet, this is really the one refuge for natural dreads besides dreadlock truth which came from these forums.

And just because something is made of natural products doesnt mean putting in your hair is good or a natural or good thing to do. Why buy these "natural" "dreadlock" "products" when you can simply buy aloe for a lot cheaper.

Soaring as I've stated many times before. No, you don't need these products. Never said you did, this is the last time I'm repeating myself.
    BUT
Have you ever stopped to think if those 'candle heads' used these products responsibly? Basically not O.Ding on wax? Chances are they put way too much in.

And who are you to say how long the locks will last? That's up to the person with them. If they misuse products and screw up their locks, and instead of taking that and learning from it, decide to chop them off, that's their issue.
It's not products that ruin dreads, it's the fact that some people don't know how to properly use them.

People also don't just chop off their locks because they started with products, maybe they're just tired of them or need to restart them for spiritual reasons. Who knows?

I'm done, I've already proved my point. Soaring hasn't bothered to look at these products or the websites. He just thinks they're evil because dreads are suppose to be done one way and one way only... natural.

Now he's trying to give wiki links to make up for it. Google and Wiki are filled with a bunch of BS, especially if you click on the first few links usually.
Wiki pages can be edited by any moron with an account there.

But seriously. Instead of preaching "no products" that you have absolutly no idea about, why not preach "responsible product use" and open your mind?

Villi your answering yourself and you dont even realise it. like you just said "Ive stated many times before. No, you dont need these products". There you go, save your money, i dont understand how you dont get this, but this is what soaring is trying to tell you. Why are you so content on preaching "for products". Its really not logical.

does any of it really matter??
someone does theirs with products and is happy, some of us go without products and are happy
surely it is the amount of happy which matters?

these wax vs. no wax threads are gettin old. I agree with bunjies... who cares.

It's also annoying when people say they can't go natural because they have to look "professional." That's such a major cop out. Just admit you're a little vain and get on with it.

    :-D
