    Yeah, they kinda suck.

I'm currently listening to Wu Tang, and that's quality.

i consider cypress hill a guilty pleasure. i find them monotonous in their subject matter and rather...i dunno...too violence-oriented in general. i do have black sunday and listen to it occasionally, and i do like them and will listen to them....but like i said, its what i consider a guilty pleasure. something i like even though i dont think its really good, and i'm a little embarassed to admit i like them.

there are much better rap groups and artists out there......

that doesnt mean i dont still secretly love putting on some cypress hill and getting stoned out of my mind...

    folks i prefer:

mf doom and his multitude of incarnations
    quasimoto
    talib kweli
krs-one/bdp (occasionally, have to be in the mood)
    mos def
some beastie boys, not the latest of their stuff (that i've heard) though
    jedi mind tricks

lately i've been listening to jurassic five a LOT. its wierd because i never really liked them a whole lot...i liked a few songs, but only one or two. lately i've grow to appreciate them a lot more

    common is....ok. sometimes.

there are a lot of artists that i think have talent but do FAR better on collaborations than on solo work. for instance i hate most of kanye wests stuff, but i've heard a couple songs he's featured on that i like. similar with rah digga, i think shes really talented but i got that album called dirty harriet after i heard her song with bahamadia on a lyricist lounge cd, and...well....its underwhelming to say the least, but still one or two decent tracks.

i dunno. i have wierd taste when it comes to hiphop/rap and i think that "good" or "bad" is more dependent on personal taste than with most musical styles.

I'll take Wu Tang by far on a technical level. Over almost everything, really.

But Cypress Hill brings back some memories for me. Chicks, parties, teenagehood.

nesta: you forgot Organized Konfusion and a couple others. ;)
