I was at the DMV and the lady was taking down infomation and I make an illegal immigrant joke and she acts like she didn't hear me so I just forgot about it and then she asks me if i'm a citizen goes in the backroom and tells me I can't take the test unless I have my birth certificate now. Its not fair. I wanted to take it today.
people with no sense of humor...it's like at the airport, don't make the joke of 'do you hear something ticking?'
fairness is not created by thoughtlessness. dmv people are under a lot of political pressures from both sides on immigration issues, (not to mention, being human they probably have issues and opinions of their own, which they may dread for their own jobs to even hint at), so she probably wasn't even being vengeful, just careful, but i don't see as she could be entirely blamed either way. personally i don't think there should be immigration issues. i don't think there should be borders at all, and i don't see how any country can pretend to be free by closing them. but i don't think i'd mention that to someone in a stressful beaurocratic possition i was hoping to bennifit from dealing with. =^^= .../\...
I do see where your coming from. Its just that I was looking forward to taking the test and getting freedom to drive my mustang. I didn't think she'd take me seriously. I mean if you saw me in real life you probably collapse in fits of laughter if I said that. I look nothing like the stereotypical illegal immigrant. But they don't only come from Mexico so I do seem some credibility in her choice to make me bring my bc. Still not fair to me though.
the DMV requires everyones birth certificate now, that "real ID" act put up by congress, it's not all about you.
