Actually, in a week there will be 3 months. They got a lil thicker and better. What do you think?

they look great for 3 months. your hair must be naturally pretty nice and curly. or nappy or something. :) mine definitely did NOT look that good at 3 months! :)

I'm just getting started, and was wondering, how did you get such beautiful dreadlocks in such a short period of time? What was your method?

twist and rip really tight, and just a bit of backcombing. What helped them not to fall apart was, twisting them trough the roots once they were done. I don't do this twisting thing anymore, just did it once then.

How exactly did you do that? And also, what is this twist and rip you speak of?

bthizle1, I know this is not on topic at all but I have always wanted to know. Who is that man in your sig, the (no offense) cuban man with the beret. I have never figured it out but he's obviously important. Cheers

thanks, well for the tips i don't really use a hook. Just a needle with a string, put the string twice trough the needle so you have a loop. It works just like a crochet hook. You bend the undreaded part, and go up the dread with it, like you would do with loose hair. I don't know if you understood anything but i'll take a photo if you want.
The twist and rip is, just take some normal hair section, and split it in half. Bring it back together and do it again and again etc. The result is like backcombing but doesen't fall out that easy if done right.

if i understand the twist n rip right, basicly, twist the hair then when u seperate the 2 sections u r pulling 1 through the other, .,not away and each time u take random strands
ive done something similar on some of my tips

ok to try to clarify thake hairs from >that side of dread add to sdection in that< hand and vice versa then pullk so the hairs cross eachother and are forced down toewwards the knoitted hair closer to the scalp
bring them basck together.. twist all the hair as 1. repeat..each time choosing the hairs to include in each side randomly

so as i was searching, instead of asking questions.. i came across this.

Im going natural.. slowly.. but was looking for ways to tighten up and hold together (into more dreadlike appearances) the clumps that like each other but havent started tangling.

I "Tested" a knot on my head by twistin and ripping, but i was obviously pulling it apart instead of together. it looked like a loosely backcombed piece but fell out in no time.

This makes more sense. Thanks. Any more advice on this method??

mine never fell out, just pull apart hard. I found out root rubbing and palm rolling the roots when wet works miracles. Just dont abuse this and they turn out great. I did this a couple of times and now the new growth is just dreading itself very fast.
