How can you detest a period of historical time? They had vomitariums, dude! Amazing. I think I'd do Alexander and Caeser at the same time, but Alexander if I had to choose one. An awesome tactician.
they were all jerks. some a little more even handed in some ways and less in others then each other, but basically mostly jerks more then not just the same. and our earth would be no worse off had there been none of them either. i think some of the things that got built out of stone were interesting. especially knossos on crete, some of the megalithic things on malta and in the outer orcknees among other places, but all those ancient concoring tyrannts, they left their mark, but why are we so obsessed with the fuckedupness of their doing so? what did it REALLY buy us? =^^= .../\...
I've always admired Julius Caesar. Alexander achieved great things, and he was a brilliant tactician, but his reign was too short lived, his empire too frail to hold when he died, and he liked to fuck men. Caesar was a political animal, a tactical mastermind, and just plain badass - when captured by pirates and held for ransom, he told them to increase the ransom, acted all superior, and promised them that once he was free, he would find them and crucify them, which he did.
