These worms in the mining industry need to be stopped. They are absolutely destroying Australia all in the name of mining. Of course, tourists don't hear about this side of the picture - they are shown all the pretty places that haven't been destroyed by mining yet. Sure, it provides people with money for a while, but for the site that's mined, it is the end of that site as it should be forever. Here is one that will get international attention it's the site dedicated to the memory of Steve Irwin. Sign the petition here http://www.australiazoo.com.au/phpPETITION/ These worms must be stopped for good. However, It won't be an easy process to cancel out mining.
I adored Steve Irwin growing up. He was definately a huge influence in my love of animals. I've always seen him as a hero and role model. I was pretty devistated when he died.
Thanks everyone. These companies are tearing apart Australia and often it's because they've exhausted their options back home. Yep, these are American, Chinese and Japanese companies. I think Chinese. and a few more but I forget who they are.
How can they even do that? Imagine if he were still alive..... They probably wouldn't even try it. Signed. I've always loved Steve Irwin and his shows.
uhm, a couple of things... I agree... if he were still alive, they wouldn't try to mine a site dedicated to the memory of his life. Secondly, are you upset about an environmental issue or over Irwin's memorial, the two have nothing to do with each other. Should they stop destroying ecosystems in order to find some extra cash today? Yes... does it matter if it is on a memorial site to someone who died in the exact way they loved living life? Not in the slightest.
What, that guy who got paid to abuse animals on TV and nearly fed his crocodile to a baby? (Uh.. wait..) No thanks.. Also if you're refering to oil mining that's proven good for animal and plant life in the past. It's also a good way to significantly lower Australian oil costs. I don't seem to understand the issue here.
obviously you dont know how much steve irwin has contributed to animal welfare and raised awareness about endangered species. i agree that he was a bit of a nut to hold his baby close to the croc, but its over and his kids are now annoying us on telly, unfortunately. look, we dont want any more mines. Australia Zoo is a very important piece of our country. even if you think he was a wank... he taught us and our kids a powerful lesson about wildlife. and if you make some sick joke about the way he died, you are severely untasteful.
When did I make any reference to the way he died? Surprisingly enough he is infact not the only one to tear out his own heart from a stingray attack. I say this in all seriousness. For that matter some people have lived through it. It would be like the media searching for every stupid facial expression they can laugh at George Bush for, while ignoring the fact that other political figures are far worse. Such action is repulsive. I think it quite rude of you to even bring up the subject in such an accusatory manner. I've seen his show. He was abusive. He taught me nothing about wildlife save the many ways you can abuse an animal mentally and physically. (Now the aardvark doesn't fly. Observe.) I can't say I was impressed.
Why? Do you find it funny? Any ocean mining in past history has resulted in more fish and coral. Is this a bad thing?
