I dunno if she was a "hippie" per se, but I gotta give Tura Satana some love

 

Well, I've got to add a couple of other ones here:

Carole King is one of my all time favorite hippie mamas....a true "natural woman"..

Caroline Adams Garcia "Mountain Girl" is another...she was a real hippie trooper with the Merry Pranksters, and married to Jerry Garcia for a time...she was definitely "on the bus"!

Janis was never a hippie. A 60s icon, surely, but she hardly gave a fuck about the hippie ideals, which, as you all tell the newcomers to these forums, is a much more important part of being a hippie than the sex, the drugs, and the rock and roll.

My MOST FAVORITE "famous hippy gal" would have to DEFINITELY be GRACE SLICK (LEAD SINGER of': "THE GREAT SOCIETY", "JEFFERSON AIRPLANE" and "JEFERSON STARSHIP", PLUS her "SOLO-ALBUMS": One EXAMPLE: "DREAMS" (RCA, 1980), which I ACTUALLY LIKED!!! She was/is DEFINITELY "SOMEBODY TO LOVE"!!!

GRACE SLICK'S first FAMOUS BAND was "THE GREAT SOCIETY", which was MORE "PSYCHEDELIC" (in MUSICAL-STYLE) than "JEFFERSON AIRPLANE" (especially the FIRST "NON"-GRACE SLICK 1966 "JEFFERSON AIRPLANE" album ""JEEFERSON AIRPLANE TAKES OFF!", which was more "BLUES" in character, like the SONG: "Blues From An Airplane")!!! "THE GREAT SOCIETY" (w/ "GRACE SLICK") had the "ORIGINAL" (and LONGER "PSYCHEDELIC" VERSIONS) of their MOST FAMOUS "HIT SONGS": "WHITE RABBIT" and "SOMEBODY TO LOVE"!!!

- JEFFERSON AIRPLANE = "PSYCHEDLIC BLUES" SOUND -

The JEFFERSON AIRPLANE "SOMEBODY TO LOVE" album, was the FIRST "JEFFERSON AIPLANE" ALBUM to FEATURE "GRACE SLICK" (as their "LEAD SINGER")!!! Her VOICE became MORE "REFINED", and she added the NEEDED "PSYCHEDLIC SOUND" to "JEFFERSON AIRPLANE" (but STILL KEPT its "BLUES BASE"), so they had a "PSYCHEDLIC-BLUES" SOUND!!! JANIS JOPLIN was DEFINITELY "ORIENTATED" to the more "BLUES" SOUND with "SPICES" of "PSYCHEDELIA" SOUND thrown in), or what I'd call a "BLUES-PSYCHEDELIC" SOUND!!!

- NEW "GRACE SLICK" and "JANIS JOPLIN" LEAD SINGER - "CATHY RICHARDSON"!!! -

LAST YEAR (i.e. 2007), in AUGUST, at "PINE KNOB AMPHITHEATER" (or "DTE ENERGY MUSIC THEATER", in CLARKSTON, MICHIGAN), I attended their: "1967 * 2007 - RENEWAL OF COMPASSION - SUMMER OF LOVE - 40TH ANNIVERSARY" CONCERT, and HEARD and SAW "LIVE": JEFFERSON STARSHIP and BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY (of which BOTH BANDS had to ACQUIRE NEW "LEAD SINGERS")!!!

The "NEW" GRACE SLICK and JANIS JOPLIN (i.e. CATHY RICHARDSON - WEBSITE: www.cathyrocks.com ) was a "CUTE" BLONDE, who SOUNDED "AMAZINGLY CLOSE" in VOICE to the ORIGINAL "JANIS JOPLIN"!!! Plus, she "PERFORMED" a NICE "RENDITION" of "WHITE RABBIT" with "JEFFERSON STARSHIP"!!! She made some "COOL MOVES" on STAGE, also!!!! I got her "AUTOGRAPHED" PHOTO!!! "CATHY RICHARDSON" has her OWN "SOLO CAREER" STUFF, as WELL!!! ALL-in-ALL, she's a VERY "TALENTED" WOMAN!!! QUITE "ACCOMPLISHED"!!!

SOMETIME after "ART LINKLETTER'S" DAUGHTER - "DIANA" - DIED from "FALLING (or "FLYING") out of HER 6TH-STORY APARTMENT WINDOW, after CALLING HER BROTHER and TELLING HIM that SHE was "FLIPPING OUT" on LSD, "ART LINKLETTER" (who "HOSTED" the 60's TV SHOW: "KID"S SAY THE DARNDEST THINGS!) BLAMED "HIPPIES" like "TIMOTHY LEARY" and "GRACE SLICK" for "PROMOTING LSD"!!!

- THE CIA CREATED THE 'DRUG CULTURE"!!! -

But it has been "PROVEN and DOCUMENTED" that the "CIA" (AND "MKULTRA") "EXPERIMENTED" on "HIPPIES" (and even their "OWN AGENTS") with LSD (as a "BIO-WEAPON" TEST)!!! This is WHY "LSD" was "PROMOTED" by the 60's "MAIN STREAM MEDIA" (and NOT STOPPED in "FORCE" by "LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENTS"!!! GRACE SLICK was also "ACCOMPANIED" by "ABBIE HOFFMAN" (who had HIM "DRESSED-UP" in a "SUIT and TIE", to NOT LOOK like a "SCREAMING HIPPY", but INSTEAD HE LOOKED LIKE a "MAFIA 'HIT MAN'"), when she and ABBIE HOFFMAN "ATTEMPTED" to ATTEND "TRICIA NIXON's" BIRTHDAY PARTY (with the GOAL to "DOSE" TRICKY DICKY with some GOOD "ACID")!!! In the END, "WHITE HOUSE" SECURITY TURNED THEM AWAY and she DID NOT get to "DOSE the DICK"!!!

GRACE SLICK was KNOWN for PROMOTING "LSD" (and "PSYCHEDELIC DRUGS") - USE, and YET, SHE HAD "NO" HALLUCINATIONS (implying the "3D-EXTERNAL" KINDS, as opposed to MARIJUANA'S "INTERNAL IMAGERY" (i.e. "EYES CLOSED") VISIONS)??? I found that HARD to "BELIEVE" (but I "believe" IT to be "TRUE")!!!

I, PERSONALLY, can NOT say THAT, as I had once "DROPPED" a "VERY POWERFUL" dose of "4-WAY AMBER WINDOWPANE LSD", and "EXPERIENCED" 3-D "HALLUCINATIONS"!!! They were DISPLAYED in the (U of M) MICHIGAN MEMORIAL UNION BUILDING (in a LARGE ROOM, on the 2ND FLOOR), and also FEATURED ORIGINAL "PAINTINGS and SKETCHINGS" from GERRY GARCIA (of "THE GRATEFUL DEAD" and JOHN LENNON (of "THE BEATLES")!!! GRACE SLICK sells some of HER "ORIGINAL" PAINTINGS (but MOSTLY HER "FINE-ART PRINTS") on the "AREA ARTS" WEBSITE!!!
