I just found out that I got a 35 on the ACT, and I have like a 4.2 weighted, like a 3.9 unweighted. I am a junior right now in Colorado. I am thinking about going to Humboldt State or CU Boulder, but would be happy at other west coast schools. Do you know of any scholarship or other oppurtunities that I could apply for?
Congratulations on the high scores. That's pretty impressive. I would check out either http://www.scholarships.com/ or http://www.scholarshiphelp.org/scholarship_opportunities.htm for some potential scholarships. Sorry I can't tell you more. I'm from over in the mid-east and have nowhere near that good of a GPA. Really, you can use Google and get a lot of information on scholarships or colleges in general. Good luck.
Sensei, With scores like that you should be able to go anywhere... DON'T SETTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! You don't say if you have an area of specialization. If you have a direction in life, shoot for the BEST schools in that area of study that you can get into. If you don't have a strong direction yet, then just go for the best overall school. Please note: I'm not saying any of this as a slam against the schools you've named... Both of these schools seem to rank in the top 50 nationally, and much higher in some programs. (I'm not familiar with them, though) These may be your best choices, or there may be better ones. I'm just saying that you should go for the best, wherever it is. Yes, scholarships and funding are vital, and in-state is MUCH cheaper... but if you represent well enough on paper, some of the better schools are bound to offer you a free ride or at least a good assistanceship. Take if from this old man... I was a national merit finalist, and could have gone to a way-good school, but instead I went to the city college in the town where I was born because it saved money... to this very day I'm kicking myself for not having gone for the better school. Yes I got a good education, yes I've had good work, but I could have done *SO* much more with my life. I almost feel like I have to apologize for my degrees sometimes. I don't have scholarship info for you... but I'd say that you should pick a few schools that you like best, and contact them directly. If you can get the right folks in the financial aid office they'll know about more scholarships and aid than is published anywhere. Best of luck! Do good work! ---------- P.S. You might find it useful to check out the US News rankings. Also, if you have any academic inclinations, you should know that it is considered a very good thing to get your various degrees from different institutions. It tends to reduce "inbreeding." BTW, this advice comes to you from a guy that teaches at a university.
uh, what's your course of study? THAT should matter in locale and possible scholarships. and have youlooked at this?: http://www.collegeincolorado.org
