i'm not voting. i live right now in tex-ass, which is a red state. i would not vote for mccain, therefore my vote would not matter anyway. in the u.s.a. system people say i voted for whomever... WRONG! we do not vote for a presedent. we vote for electors to the electoral college, and they vote for the next president. if i were to vote blue and tex-ass will go red in novemeber; my vote would not matter because it would be rejected, because it is a blue vote and the state went red. it is only worth whiled to vote if you live in a state where the race is a toss up.

I hear ya on that. Electoral college concept is bullshit.

But that attitude of hopelessnes is part of the reason that we are in the messes we are today.

I DO live in a "swing state"..OHIO.,but you couldn't tell that by talking to some of the ignorant racist/sexist fools I come in contact with on a daily basis. Most of them are voting McCain simply because he ain't black, and he ain't a woman.

I'm not sure what exactly to do with my vote yet, but I do know one thing, I am using it AGAINST McSame!!

The Electoral College is unnecessary but it is misperceived by many people due to the 2000 election which was a freak occurrence. The representatives are BOUND to their state's popular vote except in 2000 Bush won the important states to grab the most electoral votes while he did not get the national popular votes. I do believe it is useless and makes people feel more apathetic toward politics and voting. I don't care if Nader has a snowball's chance in hell, hes the right man for the job. My morals and beliefs are more important than reasoning "well its going to be a dem. or rep. so I might as well vote for Barrack." Don't be the problem, be the solution. But understand even with the electoral college, if your popular vote goes indie, the representatives MUST vote indie.

HELL NO... IT JUST ENCOURGES THEM! you live in canada. in canada your government is not a 'winner take all system,' as we have here in the u.s.a. on the day i can vote for "none of the above," then, and, only then will i cast a ballot! that day will come when hell freezes over too.

Then you have to do all you can to fight that " winner take all " system.

I know the basics of U.S. voting and of course it sucks but what amazes me is how very few are actually trying to change it.

today (may 14th.) proves that i put my energies (and money) in the right place for me by not voting. in california the supreme court of that state ruled that it is unconstutional to deny people of the same sex the right to marry. that suite was brought by the a.c.l.u. (american civil liberties union.) i'm a card carrying dues, paying member of the a.c.l.u. i have bequeath, my whole estate to the a.c.l.u. in my will, and the a.c.l.u. is my employer. before the a.c.l.u. offered me a full-time paying position, i volunteered about 15 to 20 hours a week of my time to the a.c.l.u. for about 20 years. i learned long, long, ago that it is better to work the system, then to be worked over (fucked over) by the system! i learned that lesson the hard way, and your right most people never do learn that lesson at all, and most of them don't learn it because they live in denial about it. they just whine about it because they have been taught (by the government school system and our corporate masters) that we are helpless and powerless. oh, lets not forget that some religions also teach people to be helpless and hopeless too!

SO.. someone should kill McCain so another republican nominee can join in, and everyone should vote in Ron Paul so he can win the presidential elections since he makes the most sense and everyone is fed up with this retarded Hillary/Obama crap .. I think it's a flawless plan if you ask me

*edit* Or McCain just has an "untimely death" .. either works

in montana the republicans did not let people vote in the caucus

it was only for party members

in my county the republitburo voted for . . .

    ron paul

[romney won statewide, paul 2nd--interestingly, alan keyes got 2 votes]

as nasty a bunch of people as you could imagine around here

so their endorsement of paul should make people wonder

[look past the anti-war on iraq/drugs stance to the unpleasantness of capitalism unleashed]

McCain will choose Condeleeza Rice as a running mate..Therefore negating the Democrat "black/woman" strategy. He and she wil win. The He will drop dead of a heart attack the first time he has to deal with a "strategic situation"..so we willl end up with a BLACK WOMAN for president....and all the rednecks will commit suicide, and we will have "R E S P E C T" as the National Anthem....just a thought...(and a joke)
If we can't beat 'em..laugh at 'em...

I believe you are correct. The Democrats tend to not vote if their candidate doesn't agree with them on every issue. A lot of people will decide to not vote for Obama because they don't think he'll pull the troops out fast enough, and so we'll get McCain and a world war instead. In contrast, the Republicans show up and vote for their nominee No Matter What.

That alone, in my opinion, accounts for everything that's happened in the last 8 years.

Always vote for the lesser evil, or you'll keep getting the greater evil. It's like surgery- getting sliced open with a knife isn't a good thing, but sometimes it's better than the only other alternative.

this shitstem of phony, handpicked political choices - mostly one out of two - is entirely incapable of offering the people of this nation any real say in the functioning of "their" government
until that occurs to us, there will never, can never come a political structure that actually serves this people's real needs

next time we scorn someone who refuses to vote, think about it!

... and we have no sense of what it is to vote for this nation's real needs - probably not a damn one of us!

we seem incapable of putting aside our predisposal to vote according to our own bias and agenda, rather than considering what we all need, which can only be expressed by the individual, when they are not too afraid, or dishonest to do so

and hipforums people, what the hell is wrong with the word "radical" which simply means that involving the root, or origin of whatever the concern is
in the case of "polytricks", this means a fundamental change (words, words, words ... nothing to do with the conservative "born again" right!) rather than superficial modification, or regressive inattention
it seems like this has become a banned word within the topic of politics and government in the u.s. today

when we have no partisan activity of any kind and any name, or concern can into the ballot for everything from city manager of custodial affairs to president of the u.s.a. then we might begin to have some blood circulation in this corpse of a nation!

    http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2008/05/13/veepstakes_mccain/

according to the quiz results overall condy rice is the number 9 pick..
