its supposed to be a really cool artsy fun hippy scene there but i can't find anything aobut it. i checked in old mexico and its not there either. maybe the hippies are trying to keep it a secret so it doesn't get commercialized and so if that's is the case, pm me the details and i promise i'll keep it a secret.
Yes Taos New Mexico has a hippie scene. They are called Trust Fund Hippies. They open up art galleries or have shops that sell cool pottery made by local Native Americans for pennies on the dollar. Meanwhile in Winter it is a very popular Snow skiing resort. You can't get a room anywhere in town for less than $150 a night. Rent and housing are at a premium. But you can always live outside of town in the desert mountains in low rent areas like he Native Americans do. Outside of Taos you can find small tracks of land cheap with no zoning requirements. They also have eco communities and earth ship houses. But again you are going to need money. Around Taos and Santa Fe there is only one path to money...tourist dollars. Cater to the tourist and you can make some great money...or you can starve to death and freeze. Personally, I love Taos. But I am a little loco becase I love New Mexico. In Winter it is cold as fuck and it snows like all hell. The mountains and the sky are magical. But it is still in New Mexico and too close to Santa Fe for me. Very fine dining in Taos. Very expensive dining. Be warned New Mexico is a different world. Any questions post or PM
I'd have to disagree... yeah, there are trusties there... but they mostly come in from SoCal, buy up land, build mansions and are highly looked down upon by the locals. Taos has an amazing scene of beautiful, conscious, free people. I know lots that are trying really hard to survive in the midst of the pretentious mainstream art and tourist scene. (I'm one of them and I can't complain one bit, I am absolutely in love witn NM) Santa Fe is pretty much the same way... just bigger. Molly... let me know if you make it out this way.
Was there ever a good explanation for the Taos Hum? Did you ever hear it? and are you as cynical as most regarding reports of the Kokomo hum which soon followed? Hotwater
There's lots of theories on the Hum... there's actually a lot of places on Earth that have a similar thing going on, Taos just being the most famous. Could be related to the underground alien tunnels between the Dulce Base and Los Alamos... LOL I've never actually heard it myself. Where in New England are you from? I grew up in southern NH.
The biggest bitch/whore in the world resides (or did at one point) in New Mexico, so fuck that place. If you New Mexicans run her out of the US or you know, kill her or something, then I will once again recognize New Mexico as not hell.
