So i have my dreads for approximately 14 months now and i ve pretty much stopped using shampoo. Before i would shampoo my hair whenever i felt my dreads where oily or smelled. Well 5 months have passed, and well no smell, no oils, no white residue or dandruff. NADA. I shower nearly everyday,so my dreads get wet nearly everyday. Should i start again using shampoo? I mean technically humans arent suppose to shampoo the hair so its not that bad a thing, right?
Well the only thing is if you keep them wet for long periods of time every day they will probably get a bit funky smelling. With must and mold, ect. I'd suggest to keep shampooing them just to keep them more clean, but I guess you don't really need it.
Eventually, your scalp should stop producing very much oil if your hair does not have a dependancy on shampoo. MAybe you should just do a deep clean (such as ACV) every few months. That's cool tho...I'd also like to eventually get to the point where I rarely or never have to wash my hair...
ive been usin just the bakin sida deep cleanse and never felt cleaner but just water has never dont it for me i know the guy who has the longest dread in the world only washes it with anything oncvce a year and he uses laundry detergent i just couldnt see doin that muyself..lol i cant even really say i wash my hair much but do wash my scalp.. and that i do need to do weekly oh and villi im hypersensative to temperatures and iverheat very easily so in summer i dump water over my head alot ..never once have i gotten any mouldy musty smells thats only a probnlem if u used wax or anything and i let mine dry slowly and in colder months takes 30+ hours but still have never had the slightest problem i wouldnt use the acv rince unless u also wash cauise it can leavce a vinagar oder that water alone wont remove the bakin soda deep cleance every now n then tho would be good
lol!! nah as long you rinse it out well, the smell dissapears once it is dry. It has worked really well every time that I've used it...
Yeah, but Soaring... you're out in the heat. Your dreads dry quickly I'm talking if you leave them wet constantly, without them drying quickly/quicker than they would if you sat stationary in your bedroom.
