best alternative band

    I wouldn't say they were the "best", but Wilco and Belle and Sebastian are my favourites.

    I agree with this question. This is sort of a vague question. Everyone's idea of 'alternative' is different so it's hard to pick the best band of a genre that isn't clearly defined.

    I'd define alternative as anything not mainstream.. stuff you don't typically hear on the radio. The beatles? not alternative, The Killers, not alternative.. coheed and cambria... alternative

    I don't know if that definition is true or false but it's the one I made up lol

    It can range from Sonic Youth to Helmet, depending on what your definition of Alternative Music is. I also like the Cure and Siouxsie & the Banshees as well.

    Nirvana, they were influenced by all things alternative as well as mainstream and combined the best of each genre imo :)
