OK so A friend of mine that has his own vial was dropping some doses on some mints and the edge of the dropper got caught on the lip of the bottle just as he hit his hand on his hat and spilled like at least a 5th of his vial on his hand... and then wiped it on his pants (lol) this stuff is probably about 200 mics a hit and we estimated that he probably got 20 hits at a LOW estimate on his hand.. probably moire like 30 to 35... it was on his hand for only like about 3 maybe 4 seconds but then he wiped it on his pants and its been REALLY hot lately.. lol. i am a little concerned about him bc its been over 24 hours and have not heard from him.

in your knowledgable opinions what do you think we should expect... i was figuring he will prolly come down in like 3 days or something, i have had friends that have taken large doses, like 2000+ mics and been ok.

Apparently it's really hard for LSD to enter into your skin. At most he got a hit or two. Nick Sand (one of the first wave of clandestine LSD makers) made a batch of ultra pure, ultra potent LSD-25 and infused it with a reagent called dimethyl sulfoxide which makes any chemical more readily absorbent into the skin. Apparently this was done to prove that Albert Hoffmann's infamous "bicycle ride" was a mystical experience, rather than an LSD experience.

Another fact: I've made LSD in my lab on many occasions for research purposes, possibly in not so meticulous a manner as Albert Hofmann. Nothing ever happened. I had several graduate students who made LSD as an intermediate for projects. No accidental ingestion of LSD ever occurred. A technician in my lab makes it routinely because we use it as a drug to train our rats. He's learned by experience that he never gets high, nothing ever happens. And yesterday I was talking to Nick Sand, and Nick said, "I made a solution of LSD in DMSO…" -- DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) is a chemical that greatly enhances absorption of other chemicals through the skin -- he says, "…I painted it on my skin. Nothing happened." A concentrated solution and nothing happened! How did this very meticulous Swiss chemist get the LSD into his body? I don't know.

In any case, I certainly hope your friend is doing well.

Yeah, skin absorption is very rare due to the lack of blood vessels into your skin. Nick Sand painted his entire arm with the stuff and nothing happened. Personally I think this form of absorption a total myth/scare tactic.

Sorry to hear about the spilled acid, though. Shitty deal.

yeah its cool.. he was fine :) he said he was tripping pretty good but it wasn't anything more than normal. also, as far as i know the "bicycle ride" happened when he intentionally took 200 ug. orally. it was either the day before or some short period, when he spilled some on his skin and got some subtle effects, this is what lead him to try to ingest what he thought was an extremely small dose. the bicycle ride was an actual LSD experience.

"Bicycle Day" took place on April 16, 1943 with the first supposed "accidental absorption" of LSD through the skin. Due to wartime regulations no Swiss citizens were allowed to own cars, therefore the good doctor was bicycled home by one of his colleagues. While the purposeful ingestion is often referred to as "Bicycle Day," the actual day of discovery (April 16, 1943) with unintentional absorption is considered the "day that LSD was discovered."

He still has the pants right? Should be some good doses in there for sure, just cut off the area where he wiped it.

I think you mean Bicycle Day is on April 19th, 1943 and the first intentional ingestion of lsd. The discovery of lsd was April 16th.

yeah man, its worth a shot for the hell of it..but I doubt that he absorbed much on the hand. Ive had plenty of vials and Ive never found skin absorption to be effective.

Yes, sorry I should've been more clear. But both Nichols and Erowid refer to the accidental ingestion as "bicycle day" as well. I digress, though, with the following story from the book Acid Dreams (widely available):

Apparently while on a plane ride Richard Alpert (Ram Dass) accidentally spilled a bottle of Sandoz into his suitcase. The result was a pair of severely dosed underwear. Apparently the folks at Millbrook kept them in a fridge and whenever they needed a little bit of the good Lady they just tongued his undies for a few minutes. Apparently it was some of the most potent (by dose) acid you could find at millbrook so many many people got their rocks off on a pair of undies.

Nothing wrong with dosing from some pants, if the acid is still on there.
