so i've had my nose pierced for about 5 years and i never had it changed. well about a month ago i got a hoop put in instead of a stud. and now i have little bump next to the ring. Actually this is the 2nd time i've gotten my nose pierced and the same thing happend with my old one. i got the jewelery changed and hello a bump forms. =[

i guess it's called a granuloma and i'm scared it won't heal. i read to use hot compresses (just did that) and i read put a little salt on it when it's wet still. i realllly dont want to take it out and get it done again. seriously i guess i learned my lesson never change my nose piercing.

anyone have this happen and have it heal ok?

I had a granuloma for several months after I got my nose pierced. I used sea salt to start but mine was especially stubborn so i went back to the piercer and they told me to put slightly diluted hydrogen peroxide on only the bump (using a q-tip) everyday for about five minutes and that's working. of course I've had to continue doing it or it starts to come back but it's not there so I'm happy. :) If you try this and it doesn't work, you can also crush up asprin and add water to it and apply that solution and that should get rid of it.

i was thinking of leaving it out for a couple days then putting my old jewelery back in? maybe it will go away then. who knows if not i guess i can just get it repierced and never change the stud again haha 3rd times a charm maybe

You should be putting your nose piercing in hydrogen peroxide and cleaning your nose with that to on the inside and outside with a q-tip.
Granuloma is a tissue injury. It's a type of nasal cancer. If you think that's what it is then you NEED to go to the doctor. Is it INSIDE the nose or outside? Usually it's not on the outside.

However, the one thing that you can do to try to get rid of it (usually those bumps look like a buldge type pimple) is mix some tea tree oil & grapeseed oil, and clean your nose with that, and after a few days it should be gone... :) I doubt it's the nasal cancer so try that first.

taking it out could potentially make it worse since granulomas are caused by friction (which probably was caused by your getting a jewelry change). I would just try sea salt or peroxide first and see what happens.

i was going to go to my piercer today to see whats up. i actually think it might be the jewelery i've never had problems with my old one. maybe i'm allergic to this metal or something.

and Finnish. its a bump on the outside of my nose like a pimple kind of.

and i've had this happen when i had my nose pierced the first time i just took it out and it went away then i got it pierced again and it hasn't happend in like 4 years until i changed the jewelery so hmmm.. if all fails i'll try the tea tree oil for sure <333

I got a small bump on the outside when I had mine, so I just cleaned it for a few days and it was fine. It most likely is a reaction, so I wouldn;t worry.

    hey

i have the same exact problem
i gotten my nose pierced a day after my 18th birthday and about 3 weeks later i had gotten a bump by my piercing
the reason why is because i had knocked it out so many times due to me hitting it when i was sleeping
try the tree tea oil.. im using it right now and it seems to help tremendously the bump is almost gone and ive been using it for 3 days now

i have had these bumps on my nose piercing too, usually after i change the type of piercing... like from a stud to a hoop, or when i had to take it out daily for work *THAT was a pain in the ass!* but it will go away, just clean it, use sea salt, tea tree oil will probably help too (it's great for all kinds of skin stuff, including acne), never heard of using peroxide, but sure, why not! :) it'll go away, i'm sure!

Well if it's a granuloma like i'm pretty sure it is, it is a type of scar tissue caused only by friction (as far as i know) that will go away. I think you would more likely get some discoloring and soreness if it was the jewelry.
