I'm not amazing at poi, but I have done some and loved it I'm probably no where near as good as you - I stopped about a year or so ago.
i have never tried poi, so sorry for posting really, but am looking to get in to it, is it as difficult as it looks???
Been poi-ing for a bit. Awfully glad the weather is finally good. Should be out for a burn tonight, infact.
I own some poi and can do a few bits and bobs with them. My best move is the butterfly but I am so stuck on the three beat weave!!
well to nynysuts, go to playpoi.com, nick woolsey has a few good tutorials there for you. Blazing Dervish- I've not been able to obtain any wicks or KEVLAR so I've been sticking to home made LED sticks and chain flags. How did you get your wicks?
i practice, but mostly with glowsticks. im nowhere near being confident enough to use fire. been doing it for about 6 months. ive got the basics down... 3bt, btb3bt, butterflies, flowers, reel turns, etc.
'nigma : I got my wicking from Fire By Riz @ www. firewhip .com He's got the best pricing/shipping on the interweb when it comes to wicking, IMO. There's tons of tutorials on youtube if you're looking for instruction. Nick's stuff is nice. Someday I'll get his dvd. HoP has some but I didn't find them helpful. Do More Poi has fantastic lesson vids that include frame by frame slowdowns, to see what's really happening. They've got a fabulous community as well.
i got my LED sock poi last week. they are so cool. ive only managed a few hours practice at the mo though, due to a really busy period. but got the weave, butterfly and thread the needle sorted. 3 beat weave is proving painful at the mo tho!
Little ski, my tip is to start with a 2 beat weave and then loosen your arms and add in the next beat.
yay!! something i CAN do!!! i started in october when my best mate took me to juggling club for my birthday! i can do the 3 beat, and reverse and behind my back. the 5 beat is a bit trickier but i much prefer it now i have the hang of it! i can almost do the 7 beat (struggling on my right) but only with a wrap as well. corkscrew and 3 beat corkscrew. hip and shoulder reels, chasing the sun, pinwheels etc. butterflies, ttn, 4 beat ttn. buzzsaw, fountain and one handed butterfly! i have just started practising throwing and catching, cos my goal is to do the albatross by christmas i'm so chuffed, i have always been shite at stuff, so please forgive me ranting about the one thing i am really getting into and and actually good at
4beat ttn?! Can you describe that or link me to someone doing it. ttn is one of my favorite moves. Hell, I might even be doing it and not know the name! Now I'm curious. Just starting on throws and tangles myself.
er, i'll give it a shot.... do a normal ttn, once you are doing that the hand that goes forward will go over the other arm instead of side to side, then spin that poi quicker so you can squeeze in an extra spin, the other poi will be a normal speed. does that make any sense at all?? http://www.homeofpoi.com/lessons_al...tterflies-Four-Beat-Thread-the-needle-3_41_75 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WRjro84x57E
