First things first, I am a 19 year old male. I have been smoking weed pretty much daily for a year and a couple odd months now. At first when i started smoking, I loved every second of it, but sometime over christmas break things started to go downhill. I tend to have panic attacks occasionally when I get real high, and one of them led me to think that I had throat cancer. Ever since then I feel like I have been finding all these little things that probably have no relation to my problem, but I've been convincing myself more and more that I do infact have throat cancer. I don't smoke cigarettes (maybe only smoked a pack total in my whole life), and I don't drink a lot of alcohol either (MAYBE once a week). I have noticed that when I smoke it's been burning my throat more and more (not sure why..could just be because i take too big/harsh of hits). When i smoke now, i feel like my throat tightens up or something, and i have a little difficulty swallowing. Its not painful; discomfort would be a better word. I've also noticed that I have started to get heartburn more and more. I don't have a cough at all, and my voice isn't hoarse or anything like that. A couple theories I have could be that I burned my throat, and its just really irritated, or that maybe I am starting to develop an allergy to marijuana. Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated...I have been pretty much freaking out about it for a month or so and any help would make me feel a lot better
You sound like the type of guy who gets paranoid easily. Relax man you don't have throat cancer, the weed is just hurting your throat because you're taking harsh/big hits and you're smoking weed a lot Trust me my throat hurts sometimes too and I don't smoke cigs or drink a lot either and it's not throat cancer it's just smoke harshness If you are getting panic attacks I would suggest you try smoking a bit less than usual and see if that helps you feel better and less paranoid
About the throat thing, within the last 2 weeks once when I got really high my mouth got really dry and I think I got dehydrated and almost passed out, and everytime I tried to swallow some saliva it was like a bulge of air that wouldn't go down my throat and I felt like I was choking unless I was sipping on water. The next day I still had the problem, and for the past 2 weeks its been difficult to swallow saliva. Dunno why, I hope it goes away, it's not that bad anymore.
I never used to get paranoid this easily, but I do now haha. The thing that worries me the most, is that even when i don't smoke for a couple days, I still feel something in my throat.
if i were you i would either cut down on smoking for like 2 weeks or so and see how your throat feels then and if its still bad go see a doctor and see what he says, or if you really cant part with smoking for a couple weeks buy a bong that will help alot with harsh hits because it will cool down the smoke or if you got the extra cash spring for a vaporizer their ALOT healthier than smoking because you dont get all the tar and stuff that you get when smoking you only get thc hope that helped peace
no mater what it's not cancer, i guarantee. the next time you start to get scared about having throat cancer remember this little fact: marijuana has never, i repeat, NEVER, had a case of any sort of cancer linked to its use. in fact it has been shown to be beneficial to preventing cancerous growth in the lungs and brain. this could help you chill.
I have a bong, but i don't really use it that much anymore..im definitely going to start. Luckily, im going on vacation tomorrow night, so i won't be able to smoke for at least a week. So hopefully my throat will heal and feel better so i can stop freaking out.
maybe you need to get something that has water in it for filter, try getting a nice bubbler or a nice sized glass bong and it will be very smooth
My throat hurts sometimes and i just make sure I have liquid with me. I'm going to get a vaporizier in aug. so hopefully that wont hurt my throat.
