question mostly to life experienced users.
i'm quite young myself and haven't done any choice bad enough to regret it. haven't miss an event (anything), either. so for the moment i don't regret anything.
but have YOU done some choices you regret now? is there something that you have done and it has been influencing your life in wrong way? is there something you haven't done and now regret it badly? would you like to regress in time and do something once again or not to do something you did?

I can't say that I really regret the choices that I have made throughout my life. Even if I could go back and change things, I don't think that I would. Let's say I did go back and change a choice or decision that I made then maybe I would be somewhere or someone different than I am today, I don't really know but I do know that each choice I make is one that I make whether good or bad I can't say I truly regret it though. This probably made no sense...

I always regret talking before I think.

regret is meaningless. we make the choices we make, and we must live with the consequences. why worry about what could have been, or what we should have done, when reality is here, things are the way they are, and we've made our decisions?

i don't regret anything....and i wouldn't change anything. my failures or bad choices i've made are making me stronger. i do not want to go back in time to change anything, because there is another universe where that choice does happen. so i'm not too worried about it. life goes forward

Sometimes I think that this forum has to have the highest concentration of well-adjusted people on the planet. Nobody here ever has regrets. Nobody here ever dwells on their past. Nobody here is racist/sexist. Nobody here ever feels guilt. We're all so perfect.

    Haha this was funny :D

I can't say that I never use to have regrets or dwell upon my past.. But then I realized that's what was causing me to be sad and it never did any good to sit and regret things that you can't go back and fix. I've been through a lot of things over the course of my life, and I find it best just to look forward and to regret nothing and not sit around and sulk about what has happened in the past or what I regret the choices I made, just to be positive and look towards the wonderful future that my life holds for me. We can't go back and change, but we can move on and learn...

i meant some really influencial choices like: my mother decided to marry my father only because she got pregnant. they were in relationship before, then they drifted apart for a while and she realized she's going to have a baby. so both decided to be together. now my mother says it was a wrong choice (i agree...) because in fact she don't love my father, they're not living together, my father have some troubles. but she don't want divorce - she says she's christian (there is no divorces), she did a promise and it's against her rules to leave sb in trouble.
she is already strong to think that way. but she deserves a little bit of happiness. my opinion.
    but it's example.
would you like to change something in the past what makes you unhappy now? if one is really unhappy, does he think that pain makes stronger or just complains? and you?

ending up in this damd city where i live now, although it has its compensations. but so do some of the other places i used to live. i did used to come down here and visit it for them, but if was living elsewhere and had to i still could. that and buying that damd boat when i could have, would have, should have, bought a piece of land somewhere instead.

my wife is all excited thinking about wanting to buy a house in this town. well that would be good i suppose, because even the best of rental situations, and we've got the best i've ever seen or heard of, might not last forever.

but i'd still rather not commit that much to living in this damd town, even if, i end up stuck here the rest of my life. i'd love a house or just a piece of land no one would bitch about my pitching a tent or a mini-cabin on, someplace further up the hill, out of this damd hot valley.

there's even a couple of pretty good size towns up that way where a lot of musicians live and perform all the time. more percapita then anyplace besides the san francisco bay area that i know of.

i just can't see a single reason for prefering THIS damd right wing cespit of a town where i live now.

its got a bus system and a train store and those are both compensations to me, but that's all it's got that i see anything positive in myself. its also got a fry's and several other computer and office supply stores which is also good, but even some of the smaller towns any more have some kind of the last two.

and there isn't any place in this town that sells midi keyboards either. there's one guitar and amp joint, but no keyboards. we did have a real full service musical instrument store here a while back, when i first ended up here, but they either went out of buissiness or moved back down to one of the larger cities.

so the boat instead of land, and moving to this town where i am now, those are the only two things i've done myself that i'd have done any differently, given the same options, such as they were, that i had.

and no, i absolutely would NOT like to regress in time to try and chainge either of them, nor for any other reason. no condition i've experienced would be worse to me then chronic hysterisis.

like shroomie, it would be incorrect to say I've never had a single regret. but over time I realized the pointlessness of such thoughts, and have conditioned myself to avoid them.

if something was making me unhappy now, it would still be in my power to change it. so no, I would not want to change anything in my past - pain and adversity are, in my opinion, the best catalysts for growth. if not for the shit I've been through in my life, I wouldn't be who I am. of course, I am happy, so perhaps I'm not the best person to answer this question.

Yeah, I was being just a tad sarcastic. Of course I too realise that there is no point in dwelling on past choices but you can still regret them, can't you? I know the choices we may have made have led us to where we are, and thus if you are happy in your life, you should have no regrets. But, I'm happy enough about where my life is at now, yet I still have some regrets, even though I've accepted the decisions I've made and dealt with the consequences.

i feel bad about some things i've done in the past. however i don't at all think of wanting to go back and change what i did. i also don't think back to my inability to act and do better in school as regret either. sure, i fucked up. but i don't regret my decisions to do something or not do something. i feel some guilt over things, but thats not regret.

what gratification do you get out of regret?

there are two measures of the value of anything:

what gratifictation do you get out of it?,
and what bennifit is it being to anyone else?

I regret having regrets. I waisted a lot of time regretting.

I am to busy now, actively doing things I will regret later on.:)

A lot of people rely on self-flaggelation as a form of gratification.
