I'm going to a music festival in a week and I'd like to have some weed for it. It's near Austin, Texas and I'm in El Paso. What's the risk of bringing a bit (say half an ounce)? I'd keep iit well-hidden and the people I'm riding with are pretty straight.
I might, but I've never been there before so I really don't know. I mean, I don't think we're likely to get searched but I guess you never know.
you cant really count on anything being available at a festival. if it is, it is, but there´s also the chance that it wont be. are you going to be smoking it in the car? if so, only have enough in the cabin of the car that you´ll smoke during the ride, and keep the rest decently hidden in the trunk. have only 1 pipe for everyone in the car. smoke with the windows cracked open and have a cigarette handy to light in case of getting pulled over. make sure the car is legit, too. updated tags, working lights, etc. and nothing hanging from the rearview mirror. if you´re not going to smoke, keep it all in the trunk. make sure who ever is driving will drive the speed limit and follow all traffic laws. dont give them a reason to pull you over. if people at the festival search your car at the gate, they´re probably looking for nitrous tanks, large amounts of drugs, or other big things. having a personal stash tucked away someplace wont be a big deal.
How will you be traveling? By foot? Car? Bus? Airplane? Anything other than airplane is pretty low-risk in my opinion... As long as you keep it well hidden, you're good!
Just stash it good. Keep in mind that the dope moves from south to north and west to east down near Texas. Cops are always looking for any reason to pull a car over hoping to "score" a big bust. Kind of like fishing.
I ran into a checkpoint last year coming back from Nevada. It was set up near an exit and there was a big road sign that said DRUG CHECKPOINT, so I think they were only stopping people who took the exit to avoid it. Luckily I didn't take the exit and they didn't stop me, or find the oz of weed and nice collection of dirty paraphernalia I had in the trunk. Drug Checkpoint Ahead? Relax and Keep Driving http://www.flexyourrights.org/2005_11_29_drug_checkpoint_ahead Why? Because there isn’t exactly such a thing as a drug checkpoint. In City of Indianapolis v. Edmond, the Supreme Court found random drug checkpoints unconstitutional in 2000. Since then, police (particularly in the mid-west) have gotten into the habit of putting signs up warning drivers of upcoming drug checkpoints and then detaining and searching drivers who make illegal u-turns or desperately fling contraband from their vehicles. These checkpoint-like fake checkpoints serve as the functional equivalent of a checkpoint without violating the Court’s prohibition against checkpoints. We’ve received several emails about this practice over the past couple years and we’ve mentioned it in our presentations, but perhaps this is something that deserves more attention. The prodigious Drug WarRant blogger Peter Guither encountered one of these non-checkpoints over the Thanksgiving weekend, and had some very interesting observations. Most notably, the sign warning of an upcoming drug checkpoint was located shortly before a rest area exit ramp, the intended result being that drivers wishing to avoid the checkpoint would pull in. Peter did not stop, but observed officers in the rest area parking lot using dogs to sniff approaching vehicles. Peter theorizes, and I agree, that this practice may have been influenced by the Supreme Court’s recent ruling in Caballes v. Illinois, which held that police don’t need evidence to use drug-sniffing dogs during traffic stops. As practiced previously, the fake checkpoint tactic often took place on open stretches of highway, provoking illegal u-turns into oncoming traffic and the disposal of contraband onto the roadside. Discarded contraband not found by police could theoretically end up in the hands of children, or more likely, convicts on work detail. The high potential for collateral harm resulting from this tactic may have limited its implementation. The 2004 Caballes ruling, however, assured officers that courts would approve probable cause searches stemming from warrantless dog-sniffs. By steering alarmed motorists into a canine-infested rest area, police could circumvent the need to trigger traffic violations as a pretext for drug searches. Obviously, not everyone entering the rest area was motivated by the checkpoint warning, but Caballes doesn’t require particularized suspicion. Please warn your friends and family about these "drug checkpoint" signs, especially if they live in the mid-west. Keep driving and don’t look back is the best advice I can give. We’re likely to see more of this, and since the Court has not prohibited it, warning the public is our best defense. Good =] I'm thinking of keeping whatever of my stash I bring hidden in a jar of coffee grounds, just one that you buy from the store. I'll keep that hidden with other food in my bag closed and put away until I get to the festival. That sounds pretty low-risk. The driver is competent and obeys the traffic laws... so I'm looking forward to a killer time =] Thanks guys.
im sure youre going to have fun, cuz its a music festival. this weekend will be my 4th festival for the year and im excited. i usually buy my weed from kynd folk at the festies, but if im going to bring it i will keep the weed in my pocket(small amounts), or way up under the dashboard(larger amounts). make sure you smoke your tent neighbors up when you get there, because you will meet a lot of fun kynd folk that way. also remember to bring a lighter/pipe where ever you go while at the festie. many people come prepared with weed and forget to bring things to smoke with. in this case they will be looking for people to help them out and you will get smoked up if you share your lighter/pipe!
Everything was great =] And now I know its cool, everyone brings weed there, even the people who work there and the security, just everyone. I even had my first psychedelic experience there mescaline
