This is what I plan to do... I'll soon take some clones (at 18 days into flowering) and put them into peat pellets untill they're ready for transplantation. Maybe 2 weeks. Then into 10cm pots for 3 weeks. They will be given light natural and artificial for 18 hours a day to send them back into a vegetative state. After 3 weeks I'll put them into a 12/12 stage. This is my first cloning attempt and presuming it isnt this simple. Is it? Cheers, Nick
I only do one thing a little differently, I put newly started clones in 24 hour light. till rooted, about two weeks is good< but I have my own methods.. from that point on.
Would I be ok to place them under a normal 40w bulb at night? I know its not perfect but I dont have the resources to set up a second grow space... just a box with a lamp over it. Other than that they will be in natural light.
put together this lighting set up. 4/ 100 watts cfls= uses 100 total, and gives off 400 theoretical watts.. very easy to make.. good for clones and babies to get used to more powerful light beams.. :sabres:
and there ya go!! An efficient and effective low cost lighting solution. Great for clones and vegging. You can even flower "a" girl with it. -Dark Helmet
Anyone know in the UK where you can get these? Or maybe they're under a different name? Sorry BB and Orson, I don't know where you're from! I they specialist grow lights or can they be picked up from general places, because Homebase don;t do a CFL and the only ones I can find are big wattages!
Hey Nick, In the US they can be found almost everywhere. Hardware stores would be the 1st choice. Check out this article (it might lead you to the correct place): http://www.london.gov.uk/lightbulbs/ -BB
Went to Homebase who had GLS but don't know if they're even close. There were some very simular to the photos above and were e.g 8w giving 40w of light etc. Didnt say what type of bulb other that energy saving type bulbs... will try to find some CFL's.
I would say they are the compact flos. They are the 8w that deliver 40w of light. They have a built in mini ballast in the base that screws into a regular bulb socket. They are advertised as an energy saver btw. I think you are on the right path mate! -BB
This is what they had... http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=20001&partNumber=4301114&Trail=searchtext>PHILLIPS&c_1=1%7Ccat_9577031%7CLight+bulbs%7C9577918
can you find a bulb CFL thats rated 25 watts/ they are soppose to have 100 theoretical watts. But you want COOL whites or natural light ones, they do have different spectrums of light, but still both are useful for small set ups and starter rooms.
thing is my lamp will only take the smaller of the screw-in fittings, but it is just for 9pm till 5am when there's no natural light... that's what I'm thinking anyway, or dya reckon 24 hrs with the bulb?
Hey Nick, That looks like one to me Over in the US the bulbs screw in - not sure about your light sockets in the UK. But as the "Big O" sez they can go 24 hours with no problems. -BB
Yeah they screw in here and have the bayonet fitting, but wierdly all depends on the size though its not regimented, its all over the place... god knows why!
