I was reading the Dental notes on the Bright Bites website and it says - Dental disease is the most commonly diagnosed disorder in veterinary practices in dogs in the United States. Most will have dental disease by the time they are 2 years old. Untreated dental disease can lead to loss of the teeth and cause serious disorders like heart disease or kidney failure. That's pretty scary - do you all brush your dogs teeth or give them dental treats? I like how the Bright Bites are star shaped to scrape off plaque and what not. Pretty groovy since all this dental care stuff for dogs is a lot of work!
I've never brushed Rosie's teeth but she has lots of chews and she also gets dental treats every so often. She has amazing teeth, the vet is always complimenting them.
nope. my doggy has had some tooth issues, but its been from chewing too enthusiastically. hes had two slab fractures, the first one was deep and caused an infection that i didnt notice for a while. poor guy had to be put under and the tooth taken out (im still trying to pay off the bill). part of the other tooth broke off recently but not near the gumline and the rest of the tooth is still good. he likes to chew and i give him raw bones sometimes so his teeth are pretty good.
yup. i always brush all my animal's teeth...except my snakes. lol. my horsey was even trained to be okay with an electric tooth brush. haha.
wow - first off - how many animals do you have? a horse? wow! I can't believe you use an electric toothbrush - now that's good. personally, i like how bright bites are start shaped and can scrape off plaque. they come in several different sizes too for small or large doggies. scatteredleaves - that is scary about your dog's teeth - be careful!
lol yeah, he scared the crap outta me, especially when i couldnt figure out why he was so head shy. he sometimes finds old, hard, cooked bones and im sure thats what did it. theyre just way too hard for his teeth.
I brushed my doggies teeth once She didn't much like it but my sisters dog they've always brushed his teeth from the beginning so i imagine its something they'd have to introduce at an early age, or something of the sort..
