I have a love affair with the garden every spring and summer season when I can actually enjoy the fertile earth. Im going to start a little vegetable garden for myself this year and try to make use of it. Last year I grew beans. I was just looking at farmer's almanac online, which is a FANTASTICly useful site, especially for getting recipes from. And anyway, I wrote down a list of possible veggies Id like to plant this time of year and Im going to Sheridan Nurseries in a minute to find seeds. I love this stuff.

Im going to try my hand at it for the first time this year :D
I tried with roses but where I got them from they had fungus, and since I cant get to a damn store ever to buy some spray, they died. But the next plant, will be healthy I promise

I'm planing a little garden myself over here.

The plan has been set back a bit because it hasn't rained here for a while... and the burnin' sun doesn't treat 'em veggies right.

Gonna start next week though, I already got the soil ready and all.

Can't grow too much over here though, which kinda sucks.

i haven't had a garden in years... it's always nice, until time to start pulling weeds...

shouldn't most stuff already be in the ground by now?

i have a garden! my stepdad came by last week and built it for me (raised bed, i helped but he did do the bulk of the work) and then my mom and i planted it the next day. its pretty small, but ive got tomatoes and onions and beets and zucchinis and carrots and peas and basil and mint and lilies and pansies and marigold (apparently the marigolds help protect other planties from bugs, so theyre scattered on top of my carrots)
yaaaay! though my tomatoes look a bit shitty atm, the winds been really strong and fairly chilly here the last couple days :(

I love gardening, even pulling weeds. I find pulling weeds very meditative. I don't have a regular vegie garden; I have stuff here and there, mixed with ornamentals. My front yard is warmer and sunnier than the back, so I put stuff there. It's handy-right next to the driveway. I have a great artichoke; we've already been eating those. I also have tomatoes, peppers, onions and herbs in front. In back I have fruit trees and more herbs. I'm letting some old radishes go to seed and I'm going to try to harvest the seed to grow radish sprouts. Tomorrow, I want to get a blueberry bush, more tomatoes, parsley, and Swiss chard. Yum, yum. I also have a big pot of basil in the kitchen, but it's getting too big and might have to go outside. It makes the house smell so good!

I haven't had an artichoke in 2 years and I am jealous. I used to gorge on roasted artichoke hearts in Italy, and chestnuts too.

You guys are making me realize how lucky I am to be able to grow artichokes here! They actually grow as perennials here. Mine's in its second year, so it's going great.
