^but why its not like they can do shit but hurl verbal insults at stoners. that is unless they try to get somebody to meet them with bud but i dont think any body is that dumb enough to fall for it.
i have not heard of any busts made via this site, but people DO get busted all the time for committing illegal activities through the internet (in terms of drugs, they fall for a sting involving purchasing drugs online or selling drugs to someone else online) this is a very well established website with thousands of members one channel once put a story out on us years ago when we had a banner for some bogus "herbal ecstacy" type shop. between shots of that and the marijuana and psychedelics forum, the story essentially claimed children were using this website as a free-for-all drug market. legal action ensued if i'm not mistaken, for making such dishonest claims about our site. clearly this (selling drugs to children on this website) does not happen. if someone openly mentions buying or selling on here, they're immediately shunned, ESPECIALLY if they're a newer member. i have heard of at least one other such news story. long ago it was widely stated by moderators that it is 100% known for sure that this site is regularly visited by LEOs. the vast majority of the time they probably come in to see if they can find any evidence of people selling or distributing drugs to each other on here openly. if so, they would try to take the next steps to arrest. more rarely they dont just check in here but attempt stings. to my knowledge nobody here has fallen victim to one (as anyone suggesting to buy or sell on here is shunned, like i said) but its more likely that they try sometimes than do not. after all, people DO get busted for online activity, especially when it comes to MoM and RC vendors. we are a long standing, well established forum with a history of being open to talking frankly about any topic under the sun, and particularly being a safe haven for drug users, enthusiasts, and addicts to discuss relevant matters. the only publicity i've heard of us getting in mainstream media is bad publicity, accusing us of committing crimes on here. we care about this site and its future. we dont want it shut down. we dont want legal problems. we dont want members getting arrested for what they do on here. this is why the marijuana and psychedelics forums are STRICTLY confined to discussion ONLY. NO offers to buy or sell controlled substances on the forums is met with warm welcome....it is worthy of banned or deleted posts or usernames, but usually doesnt require it since the majority of members are reasonable enough to know better than to trust these people or even give it a second thought. considering all this, it would be very, very silly to think that no cops have ever come to this page. most of the time, they probably make no posts. when they do, its almost always going to be a failed sting operation. a good sign is a person with very few posts outwardly asking to buy or sell cannabis or other substances from/to us. another VERY common one is "i just moved to XXX where can i find some weed/other things?" now obviously not 100% of these people ARE cops. but some are. ever noticed a week or two were there are lots of new members actively trying to buy weed or sell it or something? anyway, we can't be arrested simply for talking about marijuana or drugs of various sorts. it would be grossly unconstitutional (not that it means it will never happen just because it would be illegal). but we CAN be arrested for buying or selling to an undercover on here or even if theres evidence of us buying and selling to each other openly! this is why it is so VASTLY important to be careful what you say and do on here and be careful with who you trust. dont EVER involve or imply yourself in committing illegal activities through the internet. stick to simply talking about things....
if you want to meet up with likeminded people from this website, the first step is to become a regular here and earn some trust and credibility. if you arrange a meeting, make sure it is with another regular, and do not make that meeting a drug deal (though once people get together, who's to say what happens next?) it's just a matter of common sense, really. would you walk up to a stranger on the street and ask them for a dimebag? I strongly doubt police come here to try and set people up - at least not expecting any success. if a dealer falls for a sting on here, then that dealer was inevitably going to get busted anyways. and if any kind of law enforcement agency was spending resources trying to set up the users of these forums, then that agency needs to take a serious look at its priorities. sure, you'd want to monitor a place like this to a) gain insight into the "criminal mind" and b) make sure no one's using the internet to buy/sell drugs. beyond that, any time spent trying to get busts on here sounds to me like a futile waste of resources.
i pretty much agree that this is how it works vitrually all of the time. however, there is the fact that people DO get busted for illegal activities online, such as MoM companies and RC vendors, even pipe shops. it wouldnt be too hard to believe that a local cop might try and see if he can find someone in his city to bust for selling drugs. i think the vast majority of people who post such things are NOT law enforcement. but we do know that this site is no secret, and LEOs may be viewing it at any given time for all we know, and it is known they have at some poits previously. even if you aren't likely to be arrested for such a thing, you should treat any offer to meet a stranger from the internet with virtually no knowledge of them for ANY reason as a severe risk to your safety. but if you intend to meet up with a perfect stranger for openly admitted illegal reasons, for everyone to see, then you're taking one of the stupidest risks you possiby can. it can be a little different if people in question are long standing members of the forums. sometimes people can be trusted. i have met with a few people or had other....interaction with them in the past. never out in the open on the forums though. thats foolishness, even if no LEO gets involved.
precisely. I see where you're coming from and that's exactly why you wouldn't just start up a thread asking for a hookup. I think you could get hooked up with someone cool, maybe even from your area, no problem. but you'd have to use just a little bit of that common sense, which isn't as common as one might think. by the way, I've said this before, but any cop who comes on here on his own time in an effort to make a bust might want to consider another line of work. clearly if you have to resort to such desperate measures, you have no business being a cop in the first place.
