My mother watches that detestable little Oprah show every single day, like a bee to honey, and pushes whatever latest bullshit idea Oprah has decided to fill her ignorant, believe anything drone army with that particular day. I think that Oprah needs to be tried for crimes against humanity, she is polluting the minds of innocent house wives and anyone bored enough to watch her heartwrenching scam of a show.

She propped up that scam artist criminal "Doctor Phil", whom, if you dont know, (which if you watch Oprah, no doubt you surely dont) is a past state and federal tax fraud who destroyed the lives of a dozen or more people before he happened to seduce the preacher of ignorance herself, Oprah, into pushing his baloney show on morality, something that an ex-legal scam artist surely is full of....pffft.

If you watch Oprah and are about to defend your chosen tv-god-queen, ask yourself this, did your ideas on things change after you became an Oprah convert? Likely the answer is, yes, you began to accept anything and everything she spouts, completley abandoning your own thought process altogether.

Please, stop watching this ignorant, stupid, coniving woman who is only out to make money off anyone who is stupid enough to buy into her bullshit and free-giveaway's of cars and gaming consoles to keep her newfound minions of thought and idolatry content.

I catch Oprah every so often. She no doubt embodies one of the highest states of consciousness of almost any TV personality, and her humanitarian work has benefited millions throughout the world (I doubt her "cosmetic bills" even come close to rivaling her donations to charity). Her recent endorsement of Eckhart Tolle and their subsequent series of webcasts pertaining to his book A New Earth represented a totally unprecedented level of mass consciousness exposure to spiritual wisdom. I have little doubt that it acted as a catalyst for the spiritual paths of thousands of individuals throughout the world.

Oprah is no saint, but she is a woman who has earned her status and unlike most other prominent figures in pop culture, who are generally preoccupied with ego-aggrandizement and extravagant lifestyles, she primarily seeks to use her influence for the purposes of enriching the lives and broadening the minds of her viewers. Taking all things into consideration, I'd say the positive contributions she makes far overshadow the fact that her primary demographic is inclined towards fanatacism and she occasionally goes overboard with materialistic giveaways.

And did my ideas on things change after watching her? Do I accept everything she spouts? No to both questions. In the realm of higher consciousness, it simply takes one to know one.

If the extent of one's activism is limited to protesting Oprah, then their outlook on life is cynical and narrow-minded indeed.

Dr. Phil, however, is another story...

So her being the sole reason Dr.Phil's show exists does not bother you at all? You do understand (obviously not since you watch Oprah) that Dr.Phil's show was 100% proped up by Oprah and would not exist if it was not for her?

She went and spent millions on a school in Africa with money from her American viewers, while there are thousands of poor black schools in the U.S. that could have used her help instead. Sounds like a hypocritical scumbag to me who has blinded her followers. She helped a third world countries poor people over her own countries poor people, and the worse part is, she did it with funds that came from her AMERICAN viewers, then she turns around and helps a random poor village in Africa and completley ignores her country who gave her the means to do this, shamefull.

This is a testament to how damaging her show is to her viewers, they cannot even see a blatent travesty/betrayal such as this because they have been so duped by their tv-god-queen Oprah.

Crimes against humanity is whats happening here!!!! She should be stopped before she has another free giveaway of playstations or something and wins over another legion of mindless followers in her audience.

Yes, I'm aware that Oprah acted as a launching pad for Dr. Phil. Does it bother me? No, not really -- mostly because being bothered by the injustices of the world doesn't serve to rectify them.

Sounds like she's distributing resources where they're needed. Though somehow I doubt her contributions to impoverished Africans represent the summation of her charitable work.

Crimes against humanity? Blatant travesties? You've gotta be kidding me.

I think this whole thread is a case of misprojected mommy issues. ;)

Fascinating how narrow-minded people tend to think in absolutes. Also fascinating is the fact that throughout this thread Austinn has exhibited all of the qualities that he abhores in Oprah fanatics. A testament to the fact that more often than not, one feels the most aversion towards that which characterizes them the most -- in Austinn's case, a conformist mentality.

The repulsion of conformity equals conformity to non-conformity. :)

veggie libel. I don't care much for O or her cult, but I hand her kudos for hanging in through the veggie libel suit.
which happened in Texas, and since Austinn lives in Texas, he's probably unaware of it.
    (under his own "logic.")

    Seriously dude, just don't watch.
But don't hold her against perfectly good books.

oprah has no more common sense or superpowers than you peopel that watch her show.

Fuck oprah. She does absolutely nothing. Nothing but a spokes person. For example, eckhart tolles books. I have read A new earth, and yes it is a very insightful peice of literature, but was nothing new to me or anybody that has any sense of what is wrong with this societies mindset. Almost appears that she uses the 'lose your ego' book on her viewers so they no longer have any sense of self so she now has complete control over their thoughts (obviously im not being serious, for those naive oprah veiwers out there). Why praise oprah for sponsoring his work? Having her name on that book made me not want to read it until i figured out i could take her stupid sticker off the cover. Shes a rediculous feminist fake. She simply grabs other peoples ideas and works and sponsors them on her show. Fuck oprah. Why cant you inspire yourself through your own discoveries, instead of through oprah's?

Why should she help Americans over Africans? It sounds like you believe Americans are better, or worth more than Africans. This is discusting.

We are all people of earth, it may be hard for you to believe but Africans are people too. You serious are a discusting person if you think an American should discriminate against people of different nations just because they were born in America. I think this attitude many Americans have is one of the biggest problems with America.

All things have their place in this world. Oprah has a tremendous influence on the mass consciousness, and to use that influence to endorse a book like A New Earth is of incredible benefit to the status quo of humanity. You may be insightful and perceptive enough to recognize the inherent shortcomings of modern day society, but most "joe normals" aren't, at least at this stage in our collective evolution. For Oprah to use her tremendous influence to expose the societally conditioned masses to knowledge capable of penetrating the illusions that characterize their existence is truly ground-breaking.

But on a broader note, if all you gathered from reading A New Earth was that there is something wrong with the mindset of society, then quite frankly, you didn't get the point.
