Hi, I just finished an article about this topic, and I just wondered how people feel about it.

Its easy tojust say "No!" it is morally wrong... but I am interested in hearing peoples arguments for and against the use of 'coersive interrogation'...

On a personal level, I think it is wrong...

    1) You loose all right to claim to be morally justified in you plight

    2) Even if you got evidence, that evidence may not be reliable... tortured, surely people will say anything to stop the pain? - I feel torture encourages people to say what the torturer wants to hear, rather than tell the truth.

    What do others think?

an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
Torture is wrong, regardless if there are results or not. The US is a hypocrite for using torture. Its sickening really...

I was in a government class and this guy from Pakistan where dissenters are regularly tortured by the government, was asked about his views on torture when it comes to terrorists or guilty mass-murder militants, his answer everyone in the room expected to be oh its horrible, instead his answer was: "Oh Im 100% for it."

I honestly have to say, I dont have a problem with torture and here is why. ALL, YES ALL governments of the world torture. Just because they tell their people they dont doesnt mean they dont, it means they tell their people they dont to ease their conscience and their international image.
Dont be a shallow fool, all goverments torture those they deem it neccessary with, if you really dont think that, you are blind as a bat to the actual world you and I live in...

I dont think torture is good, and maybe one day our species will get beyond it, but its a reality in the world we live in, and running around yelling at one government or the other for doing it when your very own government is no less innocent is just ignorant and unrealistic.

just because "everyone does it", does not make it ok. Its barberic and cruel and really doesn't get any answers... I mean, even if the person DID have the information we wanted, who's to say they won't feed us some BS to get the pain to stop? And really, who can blame them? Torture isn't right... ever.
