Ok was at a mates joint the other day gettin baked listening to metal of different forms and he was raving about some stoner metal bands he listens to Ive herd of stoner metal but never really herd any so I said chuck em on and it was pretty fuckin good so Im lookin to add afew good stoner albums to my cds what do people recomend? my mate said get anythin by sleep or electric wizard thats all he had but im sure there is alot more he has never really been one to delve deeply into things. So bestow upon me thy knowlage.

What's the diff? It's just a label. A genre. You can get stoned while listening to death metal or some other kind of genre.
Through Silver in Blood!!! Fuck ya man, I absolutely love Neurosis, especially that album. I don't really listen to High on Fire or Mastodon though. It's not a big deal, but he asked for a particular genre. I don't know anyone who would call Death stoner metal. It's a good suggestion anyway, so whatever. Through Silver in Blood is their best work. Given to the Rising is also excellent. I don't listen to Mastodon or High on Fire, but they fit the bill. Some great stuff here, especially the Meshuggah, Isis, Jesu, and Converge. Solid suggestions. Zozobra is definitely worth a listen.
Uh, I see a few good suggestions... I'll repeat and add more. Sleep Electric Wizard Orange Goblin Earthride Planet Caravan The Mighty Nimbus Kyuss is more stoner rock than anything, same as Sasquatch, but kyuss especially is worth a listen.
